    So every time I pray and think about my relationship with my girlfriend, I keep feeling the need to read Proverbs 4:8 ...

    Based on interrpitation i'm not sure which is the correct translation. I've been trying to praise my girlfriend a lot....tell her how proud I am of her. How great she is and amazing ...and so forth. But everytime I pray...i continually feel like this scripture in relation to my question...keeps coming up.

    Now sometimes when I read scriptures I realize the real message is HIDDEN beneath the covers. The main message is different from what we interrptate it as. (duh!...no wonder we have so many misunderstands) ... So I would like your guys' opinion. What does this proverb mean to you? ALL you HUSBANDS that have GOOD relationships with their wives.

    I'm also open to the idea of hearing from the women.

    ......and GO!

    My nickel's worth of free advice. . .

    Much Some of this praise will be non-verbal communication on your part.

    Your girlfriend/wife will most likely want to feel SAFE and SECURE.

    Ok put down the bible! you don't need to use it to praise your gf. Besides, it gets in the way.......

    Stop praying to god! He is not going to hit you with devine inspriration of words on this occasion. There are more pressing issues on his to do list

    Buy her some flowers

    Cook her dinner

    Ask her how she is feeling........(this one is important)

    If all you do is Exault, she will see you as a door mat and will soon be wiping her feet on you as she finds herself a new man!

    Good!

    The proverbalist was referring to gaining wisdom and understanding, although I'm sure your girlfriend won't mind feeling appreciated by you.

    Proverbs 4:1-9 Listen, friends, to some fatherly advice; sit up and take notice so you'll know how to live. I'm giving you good counsel;
    don't let it go in one ear and out the other.

    When I was a boy at my father's knee,
    the pride and joy of my mother, He would sit me down and drill me:
    "Take this to heart. Do what I tell you—live! Sell everything and buy Wisdom! Forage for Understanding!
    Don't forget one word! Don't deviate an inch! Never walk away from Wisdom—she guards your life;
    love her—she keeps her eye on you. Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom!
    Write this at the top of your list: Get Understanding! Throw your arms around her—believe me, you won't regret it;
    never let her go—she'll make your life glorious. She'll garland your life with grace,
    she'll festoon your days with beauty." MSG

    First, God is not listening, never has, never will - you are talking to yourself.

    Second, why are you "praising" your GF?

    Third, what in the hell is with all the touchy, feely shit going on these days. Makes me wonder how the cavemen ever survived and procreated... ;)

    How can you interpret Proverbs 4:8 to be referring to anything besides Wisdom. It's talking about wisdom, not a girl. ?!?!?
