so I ticked a professor off

I'm in my third year right now. I usually avoid those professors and I make sure to know who they are. There are plenty that will work with you if you can show you'll meet the requirements on your own. I feel I'm an adult and I don't need to be treated like a high school student. Sometimes, if I think I have a grasp of the subject and I don't need additional information, I'd like to be able to decide if I'll be there or not. I'm the customer, I'm paying. I usually ask them, "when you go buy a car, do you let the salesman tell you how you should drive it?". At this point in time, I don't think you have a choice to follow through with his requirements. You could still drop, but you'll lose the money. Learn for the experience.

    Dour old Caedes!

John Doe, you smoking tail end of a smoldering Big Woods log!

The professor evidently likes you, knucklehead!

Else, why would he be so ticked?

I don't think you realize just how smart you are - but, he does!

What I wouldn't give to be in your class next week!

    Tee hee hee.

I had an eccentric professor of History once.

He wore a reddish brown straight-haired toupee, but the rest of his hair was a curly gray!

That was one strange dude, but he and I hit if off almost immediately.

I made an A on every exam he threw at us - and he really threw them!

I only have one question: Don't you act the same way on your job?

Evidently this was a requirement for the class.

Was this stated on the syllabus?

In the words of Robbie Benson in "One on One":

"All the way up. With a red-hot poker."

(What a cheese-ball 70's movie, but I love that quote.)

He's telling you that now. After you get a passing grade, you can return the favor.

Well, he wasn't as harsh as I had anticipated. He kept me on the spot for an hour of the hour and half class, but he didn't grind as I assumed he would.

    See!

I told you he likes you.

People are hardest on the ones they like.

    QED.

Sounds to me like he wanted to give you a little kick in the pants. Tough love, yep.
