Suppose they are all true believers (which I doubt). It doesn't change the fact that they are ruling the lives of millions of people, with very detrimental effects on the lives of those people. I should say "it doesn't change the fact that they are ruining the lives of millions of people".
What's in it for the Governing Body?

What's in it for them? The ability to continue deceiving themselves and 7 million other people to prevent the unacceptable thought they they are utterly wrong, that they have wasted their lives slaving for an unloving cult and that they can keep the whole fraud alive.
If you are 60 - 90 years old, can you appreciate food the way you used to? or sex? or anything? In the end, it's about power, control.
I recall an older brother who was obsessed with building a new hall. The fact that the congregation had little enthusiasm for it ( have you EVER SEEN a barely majority vote at a Kingdom Hall for anything? !!!) meant nothing to him. The fact that this led to division and fighting and hard feelings and (eventually) entrenched refusal by other elders who had a veto meant nothing to him. He HAD TO BE RIGHT above all else.
The GB might as well be Hitler in the bunker. They simply CAN'T be wrong. Why do you think the Watchtower never apologized for 1975 or dozens of other failures, including protecting child molesters? They can never admit to being wrong - and if proved "mistaken", it's just a test of faithfulness by Jehovah that others failed.

The GB literally get worshipped and obeyed. If anyone of them wanted to give a talk in lets say - Sydney Australia - they would have their flight paid and hotels and get to live off the brothers. They can travel the world at somebody else's expense. Not too shabby if you ask me
