Circuit Overseers

Some circuit overseers leave lasting impressions either for good or bad. Others I barely remember. Three that had the most impact on me were Rodricks (that's how it's pronounced, not sure of the spelling), Casino and Shepherd. The first drove people out by his virulent opposition to higher education but actually convinced me to get baptized. Casino was just a crackpot but could be pretty funny. He taught my pioneer school along with another CO named Dentler. The last one, Shepherd, drove me to leave the religion. He was the most unchristian man I have ever encountered in the religion.

I'm just curious, has anyone else here had dealings with any of these circuit overseers and, if so, what were your impressions of them?

None of those names ring a bell for me. Isn't it funny how a CO's personality can make things either bearable or unbearable! Some have charisma and charm and some are just evil little men.

Welcome! I think that Rodricks (or however it's spelled) is or was recently a DO in the Northeastern U.S.

depending where your from Eiben , here in the UK 99% of the C/O's I ever encountered were simply jumped up company men whose only benefit was for the WTS, they remind me of Regional Sales Managers doing their rounds simply to boost sales and get dead wood off the books, and antagonize as many elders as possible in the long run, here's my little list;

Micheal Purbrick ;biggest jumped up prick of the lot, complete company man, has an incredibly high opinion of him self, a wife devoid of any humour and personality, and you were not allowed to call him Mike

Mike Hogdson, see above,

Alan Stokes; still doing it IIRC , charismatic speaker ,larger then life character

Danny Owens; lovely guy very humble

Ron Bicknell; former C/O on the appeal of my J/C , good guy

Rob Schoefield; good guy , out now I believe

Geoff Woodfield ; Chairman on my J/C not a bad guy.

Eiben, I wonder if we know eachother? I had all the same COs. Did you know Rodricks is a DO now? I had always liked Rodricks (but I was about 7 when h was first here) but now that he's back as a DO he seems very mind-controlled. Sad really, cause I had such fond memories of him...

I did my successful fade starting in late 2004. These CO's were all in the northeastern part of the United States. Interesting that Rodricks might still be in this area. He was famous for his polishing-the-brass-on-the-titantic illustration regarding higher education. I was in high school at the time. I never went to college and, of course, now regret listening to the bull shit.

Rodericks (whatever) is a egocentric jerk. He missed his calling to be an actor or stage performer. If he has been promoted, it doesn't surprize me.

If you were 7 years old, I can agree that you would have fond memories of him. Otherwise, he is an imperial company man and egotist who frequently treated elders and MS's as underlings and nobodies who need to obey his every word. He treated his "suggestions" as commands to be followed to the letter and kept 'dossiers' on brothers he thought might give him opposition.

He is one of several itinerant 'spiritual' jerks who taught me what the Watchtower chain of command really was. Other than that, he could be entertaining on stage.
