Didn't know that about New Hampshire. One of the reason's I chose Texas was the no income tax. Are the property taxes outrageous? It would be hard to leave the warmth of Texas for N.H. How is the cost of living in N.H?

The two Canadian cities, Vancouver and Toronto, are probably the most expensive places to live in all of Canada.
MOntreal has that french culture flair but you really need to be bilingual or finding a job is out of the question
I've lived in
- Toronto - would never go back - way too big with way too many problems
- Montreal - refuse to go back - language problems make living there a nightmare
- Winnipeg - only about 750,000 people - has a smaller town flavor to it, standard of living is reasonable, has both French culture and strong aboriginal population although for the most part the aboriginals are not doing well
- Ottawa - by far the best of the 4 - about 750,000 people, small town flavor, strong cultural/arts influences, beautiful green spances, great trransportation system, and if you want the French flavor it is right across the river (where the casino is)

There is only one place that has it all. Reno. Twenty minutes to the mountains, twenty minutes to the desert, fishing in most directions, hunting in most directions, gambling everywhere, bordello a half hour away, more booze than you thought possible, don't like the weather-just wait five minutes -it will change. The best part is that Reno is so close to Hell you can see Sparks.

West coast of California, except for all the rain, mudslides, earthquakes, forest fires. But.... .
Actually I live at the Canada/US border of I-5. Affordable health care here, and cheap gas across the street.
Hit 37C last July 29. A record. Only 2 inches of snow for the whole winter season. Less rain, and it would be paradise here in Metro Vancouver.
