Wonderful quality RePrints of Watchtower books and Publications

There are a great many reasons it becomes difficult to "prove" to active JW's that the Watchtower Society has had an amazing series of CRACKPOT teachings, beliefs and assertions over the years.

First off, the availability of old publications is problematic. The Society has cleverly sucked them out of the libraries of local Kingdom halls. Older Collectors are often dead or apostate.

Ebay can provide steep asking-prices.

But--a few years back, I discovered the availability of REPRINTS in quality self-published form on LULU.com and Amazon.

These reprints are beautifully done and easier to read than an old, moth-eaten, mildew-stained yellowy tome from the early era!

Sorry, the average JW is afraid enough of older JW publications that were printed by the Society, they are never going to seriously look at books that are obviously and clearly reprinted editions from some place called Lulu. Obviously these are tools of apostates, they should be burned on sight.

The only people buying these are exJWs doing research for their own amusement.

Also helpful is the Google Books project which includes lots of old WTS books in PDF form. Most JWs are not going to accuse Google of being an "apostate" source. And if they do...well there's probably not much you can do for them.

Easy to 'age' one, too. Underline some key points in pencil, leave it outside overnight in the fog, dry it out, repeat...THEN send it to one of your JW friends.

I don't know many JWs who would throw away ANY WT literature, no matter how old. They're reluctant to throw away decades-old magazines even though they have bound volumes and CD Rom versions already. They may not read it but they won't throw them away.

The REPRINTS, for the most part, are actual Society Publications. One or two of them may have an epilogue as such remarking (truthfully) 
such-and-such is no longer taught.

Here, to me, is the REAL issue: CURIOUSITY on the part of active JW's about things they aren't exposed to which are true about the history
 of these religious teachings. 


Plus, the reader has plausible deniability in saying "they thought" it was a genuine Watchtower approved text.

Planting a seed, however small, is what it is all about.

I anonymously sent Ray Franz's first book to my former best friend after he had told me he would never read it. 6 months later I ran into him at a 
local cafe. We had a casual discussion. He let slip that he had read Crisis of Conscience. AHA!

What he needed was deniability that HE WOULD EVER PURCHASE such a book!
Having it sent to him anonymously freed him from having to lie and say he'd accepted a copy of anti-JW reading material from an Apostate!

The calibration on a JW's cognitive dissonance is quite a calculus, believe me!

THEY WANT TO KNOW and are as curious as hell.
You just have to remove responsibility from the "asking" or "buying" or "accepting from apostate" part of the transaction.
 No---I'm all for anonymous reverse witnessing!!

There are others better informed than me about the above, but, my understanding is that copyright lasts 50 years. Canada might be a special case

whereby the local law extends copyright longer.

Anybody have further info?

NO. They did not renew their copyrights.

Creative works that are in the public domain are not protected under United States copyright law.

The term of copyright protection established by the Copyright Act of 1909 expired for the works.

And believe this, they won't be making that mistake again. They will renew copyrights from now on.
