Again the paradox is it's not 'work', it just happens. In fact the less you do the more happens.

Sometimes "just" being is enough, for some it is truly the beginning of their awkening.

Underneath all the "stuff" it's who we all are Jeff. Humanity is just going home.

Yes - just "being" is enough. Recognize that and rest there rather than remaining trapped in the mind - that's what Buddha's teaching is about and what the Tao is pointing to. That's what "awakening" is.

That's right! People are so busy trying to be "this, that, and the other thing" that they completely overlook just "being", their true nature.

The 'work' of reassessing and redefining might be a lifetime for me, and having wasted 48 years of it before leaving religion, I am a little behind. I'm catching up fast though.

What if you simply stopped everything? Instead of "reassessing and redefining" who/what you are, look to see what is fully present right now. What you are needs no definition in order to be realized - what you are is transcendent to the mind, and is fully present always. It's just being obscured by the "stuff" that the mind is caught up in. What is it that "sees" mind in action? Discover the nature of that - that's what you are.

I do not believe you can truly know yourself or happiness until you awaken from the dream others have imposed upon you.

That's true. And added to that is the dream you impose on yourself. Find out what you are beneath the "dream of me" that the mind is weaving. There is where happiness and freedom are found.
