BTS
Obama: "Would you be satisfied if every member of Congress just had catastrophic care - you think we'd be better health care purchasers?"
Barrasso: "I think actually we would ... We'd really focus on it. We'd have more, as you say, skin in the game. And especially if they had a savings account - a health savings account - they could put their money into that, and they'd be spending the money out of that."
Obama: "Would you feel the same way if you were making $40,000. Or if that was your income? Because that's the reality for a lot of folks."
HA! I loved that part too. Did you see the look on Barrasso's face? They just don't get it.
I got a totally different take on it from BTS (surprize surprize). The Republicans had a chance to show up with some ideas of their own and all they did was parrott each other the entire time: "Scrap it" "Start over" "Point by point".
Of course they want to do all those things. They hope NOTHING gets done EVER!
The Democrats showed up with their bill, the President presented his ideas on line ahead of time. They could have shown up with something more than just "NO ... HELL NO!"
But they failed. And everyone witnessed it!
Be sure to watch Jon Stewart's take on the event:

And I ABSOLUTELY LOVED when he put people in their place, especially the arrogant pr**k, McCain! He deserved it when he started yapping about nothing, as usual. And he was acting as though they were still using sound bites for a campaign! The Prez called him on it and rightfully so!
I caught his take on it last night, Sixy. I don't miss his take on anything because he usually has me rolling.
Did anyone watch MSNBC last night? They had Congressman Darrell Issa who DID have an idea I think is worth considering. Bear with me since I was almost asleep when he was talking but it was something about opening up the same plan Congress has for people to buy into. I tried looking it up and can't find it. Hmmmm .... maybe I was dreaming LOL!
OK - one simple question:
Does ANYBODY really think this 6-hour PR stunt actually accomplished ANYTHING?
Yes. It did. It satisfied Republicans demands. And it showed the country that Obama was willing to listen to them. The fact they showed up empty handed was their own fault.
Rep. Issa: "Every American should have the same health care options as members of Congress."
Found it but can't open it right now. I guess I wasn't dreaming after all.
I didn't see any Republicans who seemed satisfied with it.
The reality was that this was to provide cover for yet another vote on the health care bill which had already failed.
Time will tell if the house Democrats will accept the deal.
