Jesus is treated as a redundant, almost minor character in Watchtower- Land. He sat around heaven with nothing to do for almost 2000 years until "The Truth" was re-discovered by an American haberdasher. He never seems to get any personal mention/appreciation even in life stories by the supposed "anointed" as published by the Society (in contrast to the Apostle Paul and other early Christians)
And after 1914? More nothing. Toss Satan out and then sit.
Has the Watchtower made Jesus into a sort of Joe Biden?. Our Vice President remarked that his job was easy with really nothing to do. Isn't Jesus a sort of 'Vice President' of the Universe? Second in command with nothing to do?
Considering that the Bible presents the angels together in a heavenly court and as having free will, I wonder if Jesus ever had to break any tie votes, taking note that "myriads" represent an even number ("Resolved that Satan can mess with Job - the ayes have it").
Sorry for that VP joke. But it gets worse.
Someone wrote an excellent post about the altered wording of the new Songbook. Leafing thru it, I noticed something odd.
About 49% less 'Jesus'! I decided to count every use of 'Jesus', 'Christ' or the possessive 'Christ's' in the old songbook and compare it with the new. I came up with 225 out of 225 songs (old) and 70 out of 135 (new) Feel free to correct me with your own count. (I was reminded of how little Witnesses kids are taught to be obsessive-compulsive by being told to 'sit still and write down how many times the speaker says Jehovah".)
I was surprized at how many songs I paged thru without any invocation of Jesus name. He really is treated as an afterthought, a minor character - and it seems to have gotten worse. More than that, Jesus is completely missing in some songs that you would think demand his presence, as with loyalty as a subject ( song 63). And, yes, subtle phrases are introduced to promote obedience to the organization in different guises to fill the vacuum.
I must apologize as to the above, in that I do not wish to offend anyone or seem blasphemous. It's just that I keep being amazed at how a 'true Christian' religion can downplay Jesus with increasing intensity.
