It is important that you be careful with this beer and show it the same amount of sceptical, tentative respect you would show an international chess superstar, clown or gypsy.
BrewDog is no stranger to controversy over the strength of its product. Prior to the 40% Tactical Nuclear Penguin, their 18.2% Tokyo was criticized by alcohol awareness groups, so it crafted a low alcoholic brew called Nanny State. However, Alcohol Focus Scotland, for one, is waving the white flag of surrender with the news of Sink the Bismarck:
Over the past few months BrewDog have continued to produce stronger and stronger beers. By commenting on this irresponsible brewing practice we only serve to add to their marketing and therefore we have no further comment to make.
Sink the Bismarck! will cost £40 for a 330ml bottle,

Have to agree with the AFS statement. We have enough people over here who can't handle their drink without encouraging them to experiment with even more lethal offerings.

Oh man, a quadruple IPA? Will the alcohol subdue me before I'm strangled by those cruel, wonderful hops?

naturally fermented beverages cannot exceed11-12% because the alcohol shuts down the fermentation process at that dilution. Anything stronger than that has to be fortified with distilled alcohol. The strongest naturally fermented beer I've ever drank was a heavy (and delicous) Porter claiming 11%

At what point is beer not really beer? I guess you answered that.

Hmm, I'm not so sure. There are several 15-18% beers out there. Dogfish Head (a personal favorite) makes a 120-minute IPA that is about 18%. Here is a video of the founder of the brewery explaining it. I will admit that he doesn't mention whether there is added distilled alcohol in it...

Here is the strongest beer I've had:
Brooklyn Monster Ale (10.8% ABV)
