I saw through the veneer of superiority in elders at a pretty young age. Being born-in as a JW with a long time elder dad - I had the opportunity to see how elders acted OUTSIDE the kingdom hall as well. My dad was a decent man - however I saw how very human and nothing special elders were when they came over to visit at our house.
I think I never fit in with the JW organization due to not being in " fear " or intimidated by the elders at any age. They bleed red like the rest of us. They make mistakes , perhaps even MORE so than the rank and file members they so allegedly " wisely " counsel. The last few years or so , if an elder comes to our door in field service , or when I won my JC appeal committee 3 years ago- I am able to pretty much say what I want and I don't worry about their responses. They have no control on me anymore- I doubt they ever did really
