I wonder why people are so eager to prevent everyone from having health insurance that they are willing to tell bold face lies.

    Politics.

The Republicans do not want the Obama administration to accomplish anything so that, theoretically,he won't win re-election and the GP will be back in power.

They also get a lot of $$ from insurance company lobbyists.

All pols are crooks but at least once in awhile some benefits trickle down to the people. This could be one of those times.

Japan's Universal Health Care System : Citizen responsible for 30% of costs Government pays 70%. Japanese are considered the healthiest by population. People without employer insurance can purchase insurance through local governments. Hospitals cannot be owned by for-profit corporations and are physician owned.

Insurance is compulsory, 8 insurance systems operate in Japan. The government spends 8% of GDP and 16% of revenue on health care, half of what the US spends.

I know we have a few here from Japan how would you rate your system.

Bottom line is that the USA has many other countries it can look to for examples in how to provide healthcare to it's citizens.

    It hasn't. I isn't. I won't.

If you read one article that favors the Japanese system, tomorrow the other side will print an article debunking all the horror stories in that one. Americans will then decide which one to follow depending on their idealogy.

I personally think that what will be will be when it comes to the USA. Too much brainwashing to turn around too quickly - people stormed out in the streets screaming when the very notion of having a national healthcare system was discussed - less than 1% have hit the streets over torture, voter rigging, bank bail outs, foreclosures and job loss. The brainwashing that has been done to get Americans to jump up in rage against something they are told is 'socialist', and yet the very fact that they will remain passive in so many other things, points to a great job the corporate/government media does with PR and brainwashing the citizens. sammies
