You can give my daughter the coupons from the Sunday paper and $40. She's AMAZING!

For shaving, I'm a recent convert to shaving oil.

It will freak you out at first, it appears you're "dry shaving" as you see no lather, nor anything really, but I find it works far better than soap or gels or foam.

I go to a site called coupon mom ... there are a bunch of coupon sites online.... I usually buy 2 sunday papers..the one that is delivered to my house...and ...I will go to dollar tree on Saturday afternoon...if there are enough coupons to cover the dollar...I buy it for a buck (cover price $1.50) and buy a second copy for the extra coupons...

I gather all of the discount store ads (CVS, Walgreens, Target, Kmart), the grocery ads that come out on Monday (Schnucks, Dierbergs, and Shop n Save) and the 2 or 3 inserts (smartsource, redplum and proctor and gamble) and start planning some of my meals for the week. I stock up when things are cheap (ie, on sale and coupons). From working as a merchandiser in stores I can tell you that most stuff goes on sale every 4 to 6 weeks. "Loss leaders" (things the store is breaking even or losing money on) get you in the store and are usually on the front page. Buy the feaured meats and veggies at their historically low price in the cycle. I haven't done this yet....if you have the time, it is worth tracking prices on the top 20 items you buy regularly in a notebook...after a couple of months, you can reliably predict when things go on sale. If you have an extra freezer and an extra pantry....you can stock up when prices are low and use the stuff when prices are high.

My fiancee used to think sale prices were a good deal....not always... unit cost (cost per ounce is the most reliable indicator of real savings). She is learning to ask if I have coupons before buying things.

I often walk out of a store with $20 or more in savings..... only one of our local stores double coupons..and then only up to 40 cents.... sucks... and none of the grocery stores have store loyalty cards (ie Kroger). CVS often has register rewards...buy the item and they give you a reciept good for the cost of that item off anything on your next purchase. So, as an example, I recently bought toothpaste for $3.50.....got a $3.50 coupon off my next purchase....and used a $1.00 coupon for the toothpaste.... net profit a buck on the toothpaste. My fiancee asks how much toothpaste/deodorant/shampoo, etc do I need? I tell her... it doesnt go bad for a long time.

takes a little effort, but I ask my dear bride to be... not making enough? how about some tax-free money? Only 1% of coupons are redeemed out about $300 billion issued.... think about it. Our grocery bills have gone down considerably and our pantry and freezer are almost always full.

Yep. My daughter is an avid coupon user. I used to be, but now I've turned that chore over to her. She's better at it than I was by a long-shot. Dang, she's a smart girl.

Now, if she'll only learn to cook.....................

I love to cook... though I dont consider crock pot (slow cooker) really cooking... I made pork tenderloin in the cooker...Thursday....... onion soup mix, chopped up a whole onion, red wine, little soy sauce, little minced garlic...chopped mushrooms.... smelled good in the house... 5 hours later...mmmmmm...

wish I had more time to cook....

Hmmm... if it tasted great, Snakes, then imho, it's great cooking! Crock Pots are a great way to save money on the meat you buy. You can buy a fairly crappy, cheap cut of meat, crock pot it, and it's moist, tender, and tasty when it comes out. One day, when I get adventurous, I want to try cooking in a solar oven, especially one that I make myself.
