I have to come here to brag because I have no one else to tell anymore . I use to call my Mom to brag about the kids ,but now she has past away . I use to also call my Mother -in law ,but now they hardly speak to us .... So you all will have to suffer

My oldest son is married and I love my daughter in law as if she were my own . I am so proud of all she has become and where she is headed .

Her childhood was very strange and difficult . Her Father died from cancer that he aquired from Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam .She was only two yrs old ,the youngest of four , when he died . Her Mother was a JW in our hall ,and is an eccentric individual . She has odd ideas for one ,and is a compulsive hoarder . When her husband died she took all the children out of school and vowed to home school them all . The oldest child has mental disability and seizures ,she had been attending public school ,but the Mother had fears of "this system of things corrupting " her kids so even she was pulled out of school . The problem with this plan was she ended up having to give so much attention to the oldest child the others never were schooled in anything . My daughter in law explained she was given a cassette tape about the abc's and that is how she learned to read ,period ,just listening over and over to a tape . She basically taught herself to read, write by 8 or 9 .No structured learning of any kind was given her in her primary years . By High School age she begged her Mom for a home school program and she finally recieved books ....

My son married her at 18 and moved her across the country ,she finished her schooling and got her diploma by 20 . She has worked her way up in a Bank to the auditting department .

Last night she called to tell me she is seeing a counselor at the local College and doing what she can to enroll full-time ! She found out that the government offers full VA loans for children of Vets like her Dad . So she hopes to take advantage of the opportunity .

I am just so proud of her determined attitude and happy she is finally going to get the knowledge she has been so hungry for all these years .

    Awww.....good for her!!

My (soon-to-be) daughter in law is a labor and delivery nurse, volunteering in Costa Rica for the last 4 months.

So, I understand! Go ahead and have your proud moment, girlfriend!!
