Now That You Can Get Involved In Politics Is It All That Important To You?

If I ever find a politician worth voting for, maybe I will, but until then I have no inclination to do so

BTW The WTS may have implied that they do not ban voting, in a mealy mouthed weasel sort of way. But in fact they do. Anyone known to have voted would be considered disassociated , since he had voted for "the other side"

With not only the here and now in mind, but my children and eventual grandchildren, it is extremely important to me.

I want to leave them the best nation possible. When I registered to vote, it was pouring rain. A small obstacle compared with the fight that women fought to get the vote, and what I did to get out of a Society that forbade it. I am proud to be able to be a good citizen and act responsibly.

I hope it counts. I hope my representatives are listening. I hope that we can keep this country from going to hell in a handbasket.

Our families have fought wars and shed blood for us. They deserve us to honor that and do what we can...even as simple as taking the time to stop and cast a ballot.

I refuse to belong to a "party" however. You have to earn my vote.

Yes it is. I voted in the last presidential election and it felt so good! I think that it is part of being a part of the community- to be involved in trying to make things better. That was often an issue with householders in my congo's territory, they would often ask us if we voted, and would become angry when we said no.

I think the Wt. article QFR in 99 said you could vote. (Of course, the CO's said the article was made for those outside of the USA, not us).

I have never gotten involved in politics of any kind, have never registered, never voted. I don't even fill out those silly surveys. Just shredded mine the day it came in and today I got one of those "We haven't received your survey yet" my response was shredding it.

I am an elections official in a local government. I find it very interesting to see how passionate people get about the right to vote. I never really thought about it as a JW, but it makes sense to me now. Even when it feels like you are one voice, your vote truly does count. Just to exercise the right to vote is very powerful. And I have seen what happens when people don't do their research and continue to vote for incumbants and then bitch and moan about it afterward. I never sign a petition outside of a grocery store - mainly because I haven't had an opportunity to really study the facts. Those petitions can cause a lot of damage if one doesn't truly understand the issues. Yes, those paid signature gatherers don't always tell you the whole story.

Anyway, I have exercised my right to vote in every single election since 2004.

it is incredibly important to me because i am
have equal rights for my son as a goal ...
i absolutely understand the passion policy
and politics arouses and i have to tell you
that being able to actually lobby in washington
and talk to congressional aides who have the
ears of the elected representatives is a rush
    like nothing else ...

i think voting is a civic responsiblity

Yes, I really love to debate over politics. I love it because I "can" debate about politics. It's like being a fundamental baptist and having your hair cut and dyed blonde. It feels good.

And, I really like it on this board. We all have such different political views. Sometimes even, your discussions here on this Board enlighten me to a new way of thinking. Especially, when someone has bothered to detail out why they think that way...as opposed to a feeling.
