I also doubt if you were out witnessing, and a householder gave you that explanation and you were only trying to show the person something his own church had printed, i doubt you would have been very impressed.

Anyone who "doesn't read much" and then makes statements about others beliefs is surely talking from a position of ignorance. By not reading much, how the hell can you ascertain that your argument is correct?
Would you buy an expensive item without reading independent reviews, or by JUST reading the manufacturers promotional material. Exjwbahblahblah, do yourself a favour and start reading stuff.

Yea, too many here couldn't hack being Elders; you'd have to let an organization doing your thinking for you, tell you what you're reading and what means and have the self imposed piety to justify breaking families apart, letting innocents die b/c of ancient rules and turning a blind eye to abuse within it's ranks.
But it's nowhere near as much fun as baiting trolls.

I couldn't hack being an elder because it showed me the organisation was not being directed by spirit but by a legalistic, amoral and dishonest organisation. I "hacked" being an elder for nearly a decade and I regret every judicial I was involved with - except one where we kicked a Paedophile out.
