AK - Jeff Ok. But what if one believes the lie to be truth? Is it still truth?

Take the WT for example. We know that their teachings are pure lies.

If a JW believes the WT, lie doesn't suddenly become truth, it is just the JW has been deceived.

Truth does not change regarding perspective. It is just that from some angles things might appear to be something they are not.

For JWs, if they could only step back from the situation or take the blinkers off then they would see the bigger picture.

So as to the whole picture, you aren't going to see it. If you believe in God then only He can see it, that's His nature and no-one else's. If you are an atheist and believe in science then only science can see the whole picture. Either case, you are going to have to use your intuition, your gut feelings.

The JW has likely had the feeling that something in wrong within the walls of the WT more than once. Many ignore it and take the blue pill instead :(

I have pondered on the meaning of what "Truth" in fact means for a JW. They are well aware that the teachings have changed, often radically, so by no means can it be called truth. I have come to the conclusion that the JW definition of Truth is very simple: anything the GB says right now.

RE: Jesus as the Truth.

That is a given for a Christian, but Jeff maskes a valid point, Jesus never wrote anything down and all we have is 2nd and 3rd party opinions.

Of course that is also what we have of the vast majoroty of historical figures of his tim and before it and even after it.

That aside, When Jesus was leaving he told his disciples, who probably voiced the same concerns we are, that he would send a helper to guide them and reveal to them and to others.

That Helper was the HS, soemthing JW's downplay as much as they can for obviosu reasons.

Without the help of the HS one can't find God or Jesus and without the HS one is, well, lost ( in regards to finding God and "the truth").

But how do we know we have the HS? well, first off, we question and we reason, we are NOT afraid to doubt or to question all that is taught and said.

That is how we learn as opposed to just being taught.

Paul said that ( for a christian), to know that the HS was in him, "all" it took was to admit, to KNOW ie: live, the knowledge that Jesus Chirst was the Son of God, our Lord and saviour, that he died and was ressurected and is at the right hand of God.

He said that ALL the NOW this and LIVE this have the HS and are sealed by it.

So, one can say that only via the HS can one know what "truth" is.

If you believe that sort of thing obviously.

Christ is recorded to have said the Holy Spirit is the Spirit "of the Truth." And he is recorded to have said that he was the truth. Thus, that would make the Holy Spirit... the Spirit of him (Christ, the Truth)... wouldn't it? To help you ponder this, Christ referred to the Holy Spirit as the "paraklete" or "comforter." John wrote that Christ is the "paraklete" (or comforter) and Paul wrote that Christ is the Spirit.

Just a little something to think about.

Every human being has his own spirit. Jesus had His own spirit when He walked the earth. He had His own spirit when He was baptised and the Holy Spirit alighted on Him. What became of His everlasting spirit when He died? Many people "operate" in the "spirit" of Jesus Christ without professing Him or even God.
