My dearest Outlaw... as always, the greatest of love and peace to you!
Regarding the Law, love did not become the law, my friend - love always WAS the Law. What many don't understand is the purpose of the Old Covenant - it was not a window (so as to look at how others were transgressing), but a MIRROR... so that Israel could look at itself. Under the Old Law, although it LOOKS like one was supposed to bring a transgressor "to justice"... the TRUTH is that one was supposed to SURPASS the Law... by FORGIVING the transgressor. BY showing mercy. At the same time, one was supposed to keep an eye on oneself so that one did not "sin against" one's brother... or God.
Thus, Christ FULFILLED the Law. Rather than condemning, say, for example, those considered "unclean" under the Law (i.e., the adulteress, lepers, the woman with flow of blood, tax collectors, extortioners, and various other sundry "sinners"... he FORGAVE them... rather than judged them. This is what he meant when he said he came to bear witness to the truth about God: the scribes had written God out as a mean, exacting, vengeful, hateful, angry god.
But the Most Holy One of Israel is not like that at all! He is a GARDNER... a sower and cultivator of seed. He is a God of peace... and service. That is why my Lord SERVED those he was sent to, including his disciples... although HE is the Son of God and the Teacher/Leader. Because he learned from the Father and did just as he observed the Father doing - serving. Even his enemies. It is what I am [trying to learn] to do.
As for "the Memorial," my friends and I will not be having any particular "special" celebration, dear one. We actually share the bread and wine (or grape juice) whenever we get together, which occurs throughout the year. Individually, some of us do it everyday. I do because Israel ate the manna and drank from the rock-mass every day, not just once a year. It was the Passover that was once per year, but Israel ate the manna every day while they were in the "wilderness" (i.e., not yet to the Promised Land). Some of us will also attend the WTBTS Memorial... NOT to celebrate with them, but so as to perhaps be a "lamp" shining on a hill. If folks never see anyone eat... and drink... how will they ever know what THEY should be doing (to gain everlasting life).
What about you? (Cheshire Cat smile...)
Again, peace to you, my dear one!
YOUR servant and a slave of Christ,
SA
