Been there too and felt so stupid. I console myself that very few people knew it was a lie when they persuaded me to follow my mum into the organisation. They genuinely believed it was the truth and were just as duped as I was.
Don't feel too bad the society has had over 100 years to perfect it's technique what is awesome is that despite their efforts you found your way out.
Someone mentioned Sales techniques and I would describe it as that.
I dont think it is mind control though.
I used to sell meat door to door in College and we would have similiar meetings, practice on openers, and see people's delivery techniques etc....
We would also work on our own, and would open ourselves up to any critique.
What was really interesting is that everytime it was a salesman acting as the householder, the other salesman was always so sucesfull and made it look so easy!
The stereotypical houselholder was presented by salesmen many times wasnt like any householder I ever went to.
But I tell you what..
coming out of those meetings built up confidence, and made me want to go out there and push that product!
The whole book is a handbook on how to keep people in absolute submission. As in "This is how you will study. This is how you will read. This is how you will pronounce. This is how you will deliver your speech. This is how we want you to dress. This is how you will feign interest in an unbeliever. This is how you will analyze the birdfeed to determine what makes them tick and what kind of "questions" you might ask so he is interested in talking and will not feel that you're manipulating him, but, instead, will feel that HE HAS SOMETHING TO TELL YOU!, which opportunity you will use to deliver WHAT WE TELL YOU YOU SHOULD TELL HIM". And then it goes on to say "This is how you will focus your attention on whatever is being said at the Kingdom Hall, even if it's nonsense. This is how you will start a conversation with a fellow serf." Et cetera.
I never thought about the TMS in this way. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
