AK-Jeff,
Sadly, most people probably would not pass. It is true that years ago there was much more packed into people's grammar school and they certainly left with a very good knowledge of many things, especially spelling and grammar. Now, I even see people with college who have a poor grasp of these things. Over many decades the teaching curriculum over the country has been changed and the whole result is that education has definitely been dumbed down.
Sorry to brag, but when I finished 8th grade, I'm sure I would have passed this test. It wouldn't have been with flying colors (we were not taught how many bushels per cubic foot, for example, or Kansas-specific questions), but I would have passed, maybe as high as a B, B-. That being said, today I would fail. I have not consciously thought of the parts of speech, etc., I just use them!
