glenster, I'm curious. What would make you think that people who question the god myth do not like themselves?

"What would make you think that people who question the god myth do not
    like themselves?"

I don't know--what? Mark specifically was in a pretty nihilistic bad mood
about the idea of hope for a God, life, and everything with what was going on
    around then.

Huck was the only person in the community independant enough to say life is a
swirling, sucking eddy of despair, and for this reason, I suppose, he was
    continually depressed.

I'm glad he got over it.

Each person has a glimpse of insight into the puzzle of life.

The more widely you read and gather the pieces the greater chance you have of seeing the full picture and

    assembling it all.

    Twain was a marvel.

I saw a performance of the diary of Adam and Eve at the local Beth-El congregation (Jewish) and it was hilarious!

Twain had experienced enough pain and loss in his life and had enough writing talent he could shine a beacon laced with humor as a social critic.
