Turning the tables on the Elders

I would love to hear your experiences when this worked out for you. I had a great turning of the tables when I was 22. The Con. went out to a park for picnics, softball, that sort of thing. I was a Pioneer at the time, and it was very hot so I made some mixed drinks in thermos not allot but it was on ice, Tom Collins. We took a break and my friend and I went to the car for a quick beverage and some Pioneer sisters followed. They asked what we had, I told them, and they asked if they could have 1. Now mind you this wasn't a big thermos we all had 1 little drink, everyone of age I really thought nothing of it, this was 1987 remember the 80's? Anyhow by the next meeting I find myself meeting with 3 elders and they are not happy. I sat and said nothing which I rarely did, but this time it was a good thing. Each took their turn on the soapbox threatening to remove me as a Pioneer, and maybe more. After 20-30 minuets it was mine turn to respond. I told them I didn't think it was that big of a problem it was only 1 drink. The story they heard was my friend and I were alone drinking, some brother who was also a pioneer from another Con. told on us, like little kids getting trouble. Well who else was there Darth? This is where the tables turned and it was sweet.... Your wife and your wife and your wife, we all had a drink. I never ratted on anyone, but what a time to squeal. Silence over took the room. Needless to say I remained a Pioneer, as did the Elders Wives. Even their wives had a good laugh out in service the next day, since I was the only Brother Pioneer at the time and found out the Husbands never mentioned it to them.

So please I would love to hear your Turning Of The Tables on the Elders.

    I know you have some

I don't have a story like that. I love yours, but in the long run you would have been better off being removed as a pioneer .

    i love that story

i don't have anything quite so entertaining.

not long after i quit going to meetings, one over-zealous elder supported by two cronies tried to get a elders meeting to discuss my "apostacy". my dad is an elder in the same cong. all the evidence they had was hearsay, and they hadn't done the Matt 18 thing and spoken to me first. so my dad said no way, no elders meeting. this elder, the po and one other elder had their own meeting about it anyway. dad found out and hit the roof.

anway, a couple of months later the over zealous elder calls around with the CO to offer encouragement. towards the end, as they were leaving, i said "so xxxx, does CO know about this secret meeting you had with bro y and bro z to accuse me of apostacy? he got all defensive and flustered and said, we'll talk about it another time.

nothing happened for ages and i lost interest.

then a month or so later over zealous elder and his accomplice elder call to offer my wife encouragement. i had no real interest in it at this stage but i sat in on the conversation. before getting into the docrine stuff over zealous elder says to me - "last time you mentioned about this meeting, do you still want to talk about it?"

so i said" xxxx not really, i don't really think about it. you came hear to talk to my wife, so i'm happy to leave it."

he was happy to move on, when all of a sudden his accomplice (who had been silent up until now) pipes up and says - "i just want to say there never was such a meeting" i couldn't let that opportunity go.

so i said "ok accomplice elder, did you and over zealous, and the po have a meeting?" - "yes"

"ok, did you discuss me at it?" - "yes"

i left it at that - the great spanner just couldn't help but blurt out a big fat lie. what shred of credibility they had with my wife was completely shattered. and we hadn't even got into the UN stuff yet!

    Great story, I love it.

    I have a similar story.

My jw hubby and I had a retail store. One dreary Febuary we asked one of our employees to change the window display. Do something bright and cheery my husband told her.

So she did a window display all in red. A few days later an elder came around to have a talk with us. He came to our place of business and asked to speak to both of us during retail hours, and no, he did not call ahead., he just showed up.

Well it turns out our red window display stumbled someone because valentines day was approaching.

My husband confronted the elder and said that if a brother had a problem with him the bible says to talk with that person directly.

Well the elder hemmed and hawed over this, said stuff like, "well he didn't feel confortible talking to you". which was silly because my ex was one of the most appraochable people you will ever meet.

Anyhow, the elder continued to berate us for a while, all the time my husband was waiting for the right moment. All of our employees were JW's and this elder knew it. My husband told him about the instructions he had given the employee but the elder did not see this as an excuse, saying "you are responsible for this, if this person loses his faith, it's on your shoulders". Hubby finally said "well lets talk to the employee who did this and proceeded to call this employee into the room.

When the employee walked in the elders face was priceless, it was his own wife. My hubby and I enjoyed their expressions for a moment and then without a word left the room for them to hash it out between them.

Elders in a congregation a couple circuits over jumped the gun and DFed a guy without having all the T's crossed and I's dotted. After much back and forth with the Branch, the following announcement had to be made:

"The disfellowshipping of Frank the Inactive, Likely Apostate, Fornicator.........................

    (drumroll please)..........................

    ...................has been rescinded."

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Ok, the name was read just John Doe, but NO ONE in the congregation had ever heard of a DFing being rescinded before. The R&F really weren't sure what it meant.

A very rare moment for sure.

I love these stories keep em coming.....

It's incredible cause I'm sure you've heard "well it's only our hall this happens in"

And from Halls across the world it's the same old song and dance isn't it?

yeah, this wasn't the first time someone was "offended" and sent an elders to make a call.

I actually think it wasn't another JW that was offended, I think the elders just like to use a straw man excuse when actually it is the elders that have a problem with it.

The elders allready have an incredible work load, I just don't see them running erands for some member that got their feelers hurt. They just "invent" an offended person so they don't look like that bad guy.

So,you are saying the Elders lie ? You surprise me, they work for a publishing corporation that was founded on lies , that tells lies regularly and encourages its workers to tell lies, but I thought if the Elders were appointed by Holy Spirit they themselves would not lie.

What a shock ! Do you think it possible they are NOT appointed by H.S ?
