if theyre causing an obstruction or public disturbance on a public footpath then a phone call to the police would fix it.

In a previous post the term chav came up a few times. As per KT’s request I will try my best to explain the world of “chavdom”
Questions:
- What is a chav?
- Does a chav know he/she/it’s a chav?
1. A chav is probably best described as the lowest form of social England. They are a breed of half-human Jerry Springer trailer trash delinquents as young as 8 (Im guessing - it could be younger) with no max age by the looks of it. They can be found hanging around McDonalds, parks, fish and chip shops or tube stations in groups smoking and drinking. They wear imitation brand name tracksuits with boxers or red knickers sticking out the back, football team insignia , mini mini skirts, loads of huge, fake, cheesy jewelry (Bling Bling) and makeup that must have been applied with a spatula . They say things like “innit”, “large”, “oi mate, u fink” and “booya” a lot and can never manage to finish a word or sentence properly (at all). I reckon at least 25% of them are pregnant or onto their 2nd child by the age of 17. A pram (stroller/baby buggy) is an acceptable chav accessory as long as its Burberry with racing stripes and an Adidas, Chelsea, Liverpool or England emblem on it. They are more of a menace to themselves than a menace to society. They are generally found in areas that have an abundance of council housing (low cost welfare apartments) and are spawned from lazy ass teenagers who have extra kids to claim more from the dole (more kids = more drinking money). The slightly flasher (wealthier) ones join scooter gangs and try and kill themselves in traffic. They are only really a problem during school holidays, in groups of 5 or more or when they have a new girl they are trying to impress. If abused by these pricks, a good swift punch to the head normally quietens them down and leaves no markings you can get arrested for (** so I hear). Be careful though, the higher the age and the size of the group, is directly proportional to the likelyhood of you getting the shit kicked out of you cos they fight like pack hounds.
2. After almost choking on my food and blowing rice through my nose trying to hold back hysterical laughter when I was asked that question, I gave it a little bit of thought. Does a chav know he/she/it’s a chav? You know the more I think about it the scarier the answer becomes. I reckon they DO! And worse off, I reckon they LOVE IT! It’s their way of being accepted into their own gutter smut society. It has become a way of life for many of these youths and is the only way to be cool in East and Souteast London! “Ya fink ya fooken luvvin yer missis large innit”. If they are the next ruling generation, God help us all. Take the test below. You never know, you might be a chav and this might answer the question… DID YOU KNOW??

This is quite untrue. In Croydon for a start you cannot by law set up a stall and practice your trade (or religious stuff) on the forecourts of the train stations and shopping malls unless you have written permission. Street Witnessing is also never done this way in Croydon and is unheard of. However, in East Croydon near the station and tram stop, Penge High Street and West Croydon (by the hospital) you often see the Islam group set up their stalls, with their literature and mega phones with the slogan "One way to God" splashed in huge letters on their stall. Perhaps your friend saw these people? In fact Street Witnessing in Croydon is pretty minimal, for example, two weeks ago (last time it was done) there were just 4 of them on the street for 1 hour handing out tracts.
Therefore, sorry to burst anyone's bubble but it was not the JWs, certainly not in Croydon as I am there and would know if this was even partially true. As the poster on this thread "The Gladiator" said QUOTE "Only Muslims are allowed to voice their opinions publicly" Whilst not strictly true, they are as a religious group generally given more lee-way to do 'this sort' of preaching...the JWs (certainly in Croydon) have never even requested this sort of witnessing, knowing them well, they would consider it rude and distasteful.

Oh just another thought:
Why could your friend not take photos of these 50 or so Witnesses? I do not think the person who took a snap would be tracked down and shot.
There are no sisters in Croydon or the other 7 local congregations in motorised or manual wheelchairs plus other outside congregations as you know do not invade the territories of other congregations.
Croydon is not mainly Asian or African, in fact it has as its demographic 89% white British.
I know of no Brother who does his ministry by randomly quoting the Bible for no reason

As I said, legally the cannot preach on the mall or the areas leading to it and I doubt the JWs would of broken the law to do this - plus the fact no ministry was done from end of September 2009 to January 2010
Finally, I have no issue at all if someone has questions, doubts and opinions, for or against as I also have many but your friend seems to be mistaken on a massive scale, I am trying hard not to say the word fabrication because they may well of mistaken them for the Muslims and one more thing, if Croydon ever gets 50 out on street witnessing then it will be truly amazing as I think the record for Street stuff is 11.

I've seen tables with W/T, Awakes and brochures on them in other cities in the UK - just last weekend I saw one. There was no large scale attempt at street witnessing along with it though.
Many years ago I was involved in street witnessing where 20 or more of us were out - people were crossing the roads in desperation to get away

First of all, welcome to the board activeJW
I tend to agree with you, apart from it being highly unlikely to find such a large number of JWs out doing street witnessing, the manner in which they were going about it (especially blocking people's right of way) is not the WTS way of preaching, at all. If, indeed, these were JWs, or people posing as JWs, then I think the GB would want to know about it!
It is quite a mystery. I wonder who those people were??!
