Its because they claim, they are so superior to others, that an occassional 'crime story' will serve the purpose of keeping them grounded from boasting. As to its benefits? Perhaps just another piece of the awakening puzzle.
For me, the case in California, of a man who molested children and the WT taking the 'confidentiality part' to the California Supreme Court was very eye opening as to their willingness to protect the WT Brand over the safety of children.
