Something is up in my world. I asked my family about FB a year ago and it was like ohh noo never. Now all of them are jumping on in the last month and even connecting with other faders... Weird.

I wonder how many dubs actually take to heart these warnings of how 'dangerous' Facebook and the like are?
I know of quite a few JWs who are on Facebook...it's how they keep up with JW friends and family in other areas.
I'm not sure the WTS really understands how ridiculous they sound on this issue. This isn't like giving a talk on debasing music and frightening everyone into thinking that demons will possess your turntable if you play Stairway to Heaven. You can't scare JWs away from the Internet anymore. It's too much of our everyday lives. To try to demonize it only makes the average dub mock the counsel as old-fashioned or out of touch. And that's the first step to questioning authority.
So go ahead WTS... keep up the good work of alienating your followers... we'll be here to welcome them...

None of the dubs on my FB friends list have dropped off. They ain't going anywhere. It's like they have selective hearing...which I think is funny.

Actually one person at that talk had just literally open a FB account 3 days earlier and deleted it the nite he heard the talk.

Can you believe they are actually saying this sh*t from the podium now? It's no longer just a warning or suggestion, it's an actual SPECIAL NEEDS TALK??
This reminds me of growing up in the 1980's. You were "spiritually weak" if you had cable TV, so all growing up we only had the local channels (all 5 of them) that only the TV antanna would pick up. Then, one night during the TMS in 1999, we were asked to vote on raising the CO's allowance which included more money for his RISING CABLE COSTS. (He lived in an apartment in our KH's basement). My mother's jaw literally hung open! After that night, my mother ordered cable, and to hell with what those pharasitical bastards thought!!!
The same is true today. They'll preach one thing, and yet do another. The secret is to keep your mouth shut and utilize ALL of the privacy settings which Facebook has open to you.
I mean really, this is 2010, who REALLY thinks that the internet and Facebook/networking sites are from the DEVIL? Oh that's right.....the isolated old foogies up in Brooklyn and Patterson, I forgot.
They'd better get cranking on that compound up in New York and damn quick. They can't seem to isolate themselves quick enough.
SPECIAL NEEDS TALK, indeed. If they were any more "special needs" they'd have handicapped license plates and be drooling.
