It's nice your daughter is getting to do those things. It's all a part of a person's memories and identity.

I took my daughter to a birthday party today and I felt quite emotional watching her enjoying herself and thinking about what we missed out on as children.

Oh, I just thought of a funny prom story. A few years ago I got in touch wth a much younger second cousin who was raised a jw. I hadn't seen her since she was a toddler. Anyway, this is her story. She saw through the Watchtower bullshit from a very young age and was never baptized, snuck out at night to go to dances and out on dates, etc. Amazingly enough her parents allowed her to go to the prom, and wouldn't you know it, she was voted prom queen.

Well, some other girls in the congregation turned her into the elders, who insisted she give back her crown. She told them to go to hell and kept it. She left home a few weeks later, right after graduation. We both laughed til we cried when she told that story. By the way, she's in her late 20's and still has her crown.

No more kool aid - I guess your proof that the proms are bad. Look what it did to you. You are now on JWN commenting.....

Jamie - That is great story you shared. My wife found it particualy funny with your cousin being so firm about the crown in effect saying "You can have my crown when you pry it off my cold dead fingers" haha

Mickey Mouse - Those memories are so special to us parents. I was looking at my daughter all prettied up, she looked so beautiful and so happy. I love to see my little girl in a beautiful dress. I couldn't help to think this AM, 'what if, we were still in?'

No, of course I wasn't allowed to go. The beautiful girl that I had been in love with since first grade asked me to go with her, and I had to say no.

Edited to add: it's so cool that you're involved and a part of these memories, Dissed! Bravo, and when it comes time (I have 3 daughters), I will be involved as well.

    Mission accomplished!!

The package is safely home and sleeping in her bed. I repeat, the package is safely home.....

I will admit, driving kids around can drive you nuts. Time and schedgules to them mean nothing. Three times, my daughter told me to "chill out dad, every thing is cool" lol
