Was reminiscing with a friend on facebook about our past and the thread concerning Windows 7 got me thinking about the hours I spent writing programs for my TRaSh 80 computer. Any other nerds like me who miss the old hardware?

Or does anyone miss anything from their younger days (not necessarily computers)?

I miss 8-track tapes except when they mess up. LOL

Yeah!, I remember using the Tandy computer, I played the wheel of fortune with my friends when they came over to my place. No internet back then.

Did not need Internet back then. Well at least I did not. I liked geeking out and writing my own simple dumb games on it.

I miss my old 486. I could start scanning a document, go downstairs for dinner, and it would be ready by the time I finished eating.

    LOL @ FF

My 486 was actually a leap forward for me when I first got it.

WOW! 50 MHz CPU, 8 MEGA bytes of RAM, 420 MEGA bytes HD space!!!

Windows 95 required me to upgrade the RAM and HD space. By 1998, it became too slow to do anything useful with it.

I still have it though. But I have not fired it up in years. Bet the HD no longer works.

I miss text-based adventure role playing games. Modern graphics take a lot of the fun out of it. It's like books versus movies; books win just about every time.

BTW, weren't the original TRS-80 computers Radio Shack branded? Or are we talking about a Ford Maverick/Mercury Comet sort of thing here?

According to Wikipedia, yes. I got it in 1986 and according to Wikipedia, it was the last production run of the machine (they had already moved on to CoCo 3 by then). This is what mine looked like (I actually still have it BTW).

I had a radio shack Tandy TRS-80 computer with a cassette tape hard drive.

    About 1986. My first computer.
