There is no such thing is there?
I have never known anyone who went there. Have you?
No such place, but it sure gets alot of publicity. Could it be that hell is one helluva tool for control?
That makes sense.

It's a hell of a week.
Maybe the ash and lava spewing out of Iceland made them think of it.
I still wrestle with whether or not it was good marketing for Russell to quench the literal fires of Hell. The fear and guilt of a fiery Hell might have successfully kept a few more born-in JWs on the inside.
As for me starting a Hell thread, I didn't want to hijack Perry's thread.

You know crusing around youtube, I found this guy who believes that if we dig down far enough, we can "hear" sounds from hell. He records them so people will believe there is a hell and get with the Jesus program.
Makes me feel so much better about my mental health, thanks Hell Sounds guy.
I don't know if I should give a link, it's very disturbing sounds. Groans and screaming of the damned and all...or people having to sit through the latest Rob Schneider movie, I can't tell. Actually, it's the sound track screams to a horror movied altered a bit, and you can hear someone in the back ground very faintly giggling and saying, "I'm a bad girl, aren't I?" or something like that.
The comments are a REAL scream, though, like this one:"
Hell is real for everyone that doesn't accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and get Born Again. Hell is eternal conscious torment. Why not give Jesus a try. He does love you but after He has done everything to get you to Heaven, there's no other place to store you for all eternity. Sorry, those are His terms, not mine."
Lovely people, these fundies, so warm and cuddly and full of Christian love of neighbor, just makes you want to GIVE them a big old Jesus-y hug.
I thought it was just me noticing it. I think that MadJW dude got it all going, now that is all anyone is thinking about!
Hi Jeff,
I noticed the volume of threads on the subject too. Personally, I think it is a good thing that people should consider death and what follows before it happens.
The main things I see the WT attack are the Trinity, Hell and the Church.
The reason for the attack on the Trinity is two fold, knowing Jesus is and hearing from His Spirit.
The nullification of the second death by the WT is one of the biggest deceptions. After all, why not choose to lead a life full of sin if annihilation is the only consequence as the WT would have us believe?
Lastly, the WT attack the church at every opportunity. The Church are here to point those who are convicted of their sin by the Holy Spirit to Christ. Keep people away the church and you keep them from Christ and salvation.
Let us not forget the Cross as well, the most powerful symbol salvation and the love of the Father and the banner the Church marches under.
Blessings,
Stephen
Hell hath no fury like.... BASEMENT CAT!
I work with dying people, the elderly...I think about death too much. Occupational hazard. I had more fun working with children in day care.
I just find it morbid to focus on death and hell overly much.
Maybe it's because when I was a Witness, I was so depressed at times I just wanted to die and tried to kill myself a few times so I could be sure t get to paradise.
Now, there's a real nasty teaching. Kill yourself and go straight to paradise. They need to revise that and keep people from suiciding their way into paradise by no noing it like the Catholics.
I don't find conventional Hellfire teachings any more palatable. I can't conceive of "hellfire" literally, but then, as you all know, I take little about the spiritual language of the Bible literally. Literalism screws with a really good metaphor.
I know an allegory when I read it, I'm a writer myself. Use them all the time. *G* Like everyone else in the room, I tend to think God thinks like me. He can probably think like everyone. Quite a godlike quality I think.
It's getting hotter outside.
