Of course we know that the sticky pus that oozes forth from that flaccid, mottled old teat does lend itself to accurate recordings...
...and so do they.

I think a ban on long subject lines would be more appropriate.

That's right of course (FF). "Key words, and phrases, dear brother. No need to underline everything."
Ahem...
A ban on recordings? I admit I'm coming in during the middle of the movie here, but does this have to do with this comment: "My source for that comment: "I think it's absolutely hilarious that the WTBTS no longer 'allows' people to tape-record talks!!!..."
It was a direct source; I'd heard that comment from a few posters on this board, but I didn't think much of it until I drifted into "JW C@fe" on FaceBook and read the comments of an [apparently] active, faithful JW on there - her comments went something like, "too bad we can't tape talks anymore, but the [I can't remember whether she said "Faithful and Discreet Slave" or "Governing Body"...] has stated that we cannot, and we must obey them - for they know so much more than we do as to what Jehovah's will is for his people..."
On this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/191001/4/ITS-OFFICIAL-New-Elders-Manual-by-end-of-2010 ???
Bee - Cause, if that's the origin of this thread's title, then my subsequent comments - and embarrassment over mis-quoting the WTBTS' new edicts - may be of interest to you...
"[comment by JW C@fe... a moderator, apparently...] "I know, I love the site! Very useful. But, it appears the April KM question box (which I haven't seen yet) has a request not to post audio talks, so they may have been affected by this, as we know they have an entire section of just audio talks...we'll see...JWN will remove also, but not until we see the KM..."
Soooo... Just out of curiosity, have you seen the new Kingdom Ministry, and does it indeed forbid the taping of talks, or just the posting of taped talks onto [even JW-controlled social...] websites???
Zid - whose face is still a little bit red...
I talked to my SIL about this - fanatical person - her whole living room is dedicated to magazines, books, tapes and anything you can think of in relation to JW's from the past 35 years at least.
I asked her what she thought of the KM regarding the talks and her response was that they are opposed to circulating the talks - you can still tape them and listen to them - you just can't circulate them. Some people are just running with the information and taking it to the extreme in the KH - paranoia.
We all know that it's because there has been so much new light over the past years that if newbies heard it all, they might and are questioning history and changes. sammieswife.
zid...no.
It's all tangential. You leave your wallet unattended, I take out your credit card and order some porn on spanktravision..
Here's the text of the article:
April 2010 Kingdom Ministry Question Box.
Should Jehovah’s Witnesses circulate recordings or transcripts of talks?
We are strengthened and encouraged by Bible discourses. (Acts 15:32) Therefore, it is natural to want to share such encouraging information with those who were not present. With the advent of various recording devices, a talk can be recorded and distributed to others at a moment’s notice.
Some have maintained a collection of recorded talks, including talks that were given many years ago, and with good motive they lend these talks or reproduce them for friends. Others have created websites and placed talks there for anyone to download.
Understandably, there is no objection if we record talks for personal use or for members of our family. In addition, elders may arrange for talks to be recorded for infirm members of the congregation who are unable to attend the meetings. However, there are good reasons for us not to circulate transcripts or recordings of talks.
Because talks are often delivered with local needs in mind, we could easily misconstrue points from a circulated recording, since we would not be aware of the setting in which the talk was given. In addition, it would be difficult for us to verify who gave the talk and when, so that we can have confidence that the information presented is up to date and accurate. (Luke 1:1-4)
Further, circulating transcripts or recordings of talks might tempt some to give or accept undue attention and honour. —1 Cor. 3:5-7.
The faithful and discreet slave works hard to provide spiritual food in the right “measure” and at “the proper time.” (Luke 12:42) This includes the arrangement for talks to be given at local congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses and audio recordings that can be downloaded from the official jw.org website. We can be confident that the faithful and discreet slave and its Governing Body will provide what we need in order to be made firm in the faith. —Acts 16:4, 5.
I guess nothing more needs to be said.
