Im currently studying from Keep yourself in Gods love. Having read a couple of WT books and magazines i expect it to be full of logical fallacies, scholary dishonesty, irrelevant illustrations, mind-control and scripture taken out of context.

But the writer want to give even more so he apparently saw it fit to randomly insert really, really stupid statement. To clarify - they dont serve any purpose, there does not seem to be a point with them, they are just so incredibly retarded you dont know if you should laugh or cry.

An example is the first two lines of the section "those who god love" on page 26. The writer want to convince us that we cant choose our friends ourselves, and he write: [my translation]

"Jehovah is very carefull with who he choose for friends. But is that not his right? He is the universes sovereign master"

I find it incredible excessively stupid that some idiot from the writing committee see it fit to explain to us that Jehovah can choose who he want as a friend, like he needs a permission. And even more amazing, he cant do it because he is a thinking being, or that he is responsible or that he is grown-up or that it is a fundamental right every person has - no, Jehovah is allowed by mr. writing guy because he is the sovereign master. Apparently jesus is shit out of luck and has to be friends with Ted Jarez, John Bar and whoever bribe him with a a piece of candy.

Im sorry i cant find the quote in english, it is written even more childish than my translation indicate.

Yeah, it was something similar when I read in CoC quoting from the book "Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God" talking about the coming of 1975:

How appropriate it would be for Jehovah God to make of this coming seventh period of a thousand years a sabbath period of rest and release

The writer actually told God what would be appropriate for him to do. And God ignored that, and did something inapproriate! Oh the humanity! I guess He's disfellowshipped now for disregarding the "slave"s advice.

They manage to pull off retarded and clever in their writing simultaneously.

The point of the dumb sentence is to establish authority, authority that the reader, YOU, do NOT have. All that book is, is a litany of things the Borg has taken away your right to do and believe.

Mad S.: Another thing that gets me is that they start every other sentence with a question. Then, near the end, we learn that satans favorite tool of deception is to ask questions.

I am considering to pause at every question and answer it explicitly at the bible study. 'Yes', 'No' or 'Maybe', preferably.

The only problem with making an analysis of the book is that near every sentence is an example of loaded language, mind control or propeganda. one would never be done!

I am assuming this is the statement you are referring to from the English version ...

    *** lv chap. 3 p. 26 par. 4 Love Those Whom God Loves ***
When it comes to friendship, Jehovah is particular. Does he not have the right to be? After all, he is the Sovereign Lord of the universe, and friendship with him is the greatest of all privileges.

While not defending all teachings of The Watchtower, paragraph 5 refers you to Psalm 15:1-5, so I think in context there is nothing wrong with the statement.

This doesn't exactly line up with Christ dying for all mankind. I mean, why would he do that if only some people are God's friends? This doesn't make any sense.

Love for all of mankind does not necessarily mean the same as friendship with all.

God, because of his love for all people, offers the free gift, this still requires an individual to accept the gift.

A person may love their neighbor, even an enemy, but you may not consider them a friend.

But wannabefree, the book is about God's LOVE, not about friends or friendship. The entire point of the two chapters on who to friend and who not to friend is BORG CONTROL. It isn't about love or even about God at all.

    That is classic!

That book (along with all of the other WT literature) has the same writing level of the "See Spot Run" series we read in Preschool!

But wannabefree, the book is about God's LOVE, not about friends or friendship.

True, but IMO the context is accurate as presented in the book (in this particular instance).
