I totally get where you are coming form Drew, I graduated 13 years ago. I met a Greek Professor of jurisprudence and we discussed the Theban plays of Sophocles, he told me that I should do a degree in Law, which I did. The sense of personal achievement was immense, it was part of the journey in my exit form the wts and was both cathartic and rewarding.
Education, as you point out is an end in itself.

Exactly, and congratulations, Drew.
I actually got my degree while I was pioneering-eldering-working full time, but I encourage everyone to get theirs and go further.
A degree may not actually be of any practical value as regards the area you've been working in, but it does marshall a minimum amount of respect and there are some jobs that simply don't care what your degree is in just so long as you have one.
I used to field, the "What did you get your degree in?" and "You're so smart, you should really finish that degree." or the implicit "If you were really that smart, you would have finished that degree."
Everyone should get a BS/BA at minimum.
I have been so consumed with my new family (1st child born last year) and college, that cares about JW related material simply have vanished from my life. I simply no longer care. Sure, there are some intellectual curiosities, but not much more than that. The experience is far behind me, and I'm not looking back.
I am happy for you. That's my goal too.
To those of you who feel that you need to "help others" in the Watchtower I give you this word of caution. Be careful, because that may simply be an excuse you are using to remain stuck in the past. That's how it was for me. I was stuck, and because I was stuck, I made the ex-jw stuff everything. It defined me. It was a life changing experience that "everybody needs to know."
I get this. I wish I could tell you how close I feel to reaching that point myself. I congratulate you.

Congratulations Drew. That's awesome. I threw away a paid scholarship to college in order to "pioneer" for 5 years. Now that I'm out, i will soon be thinking seriously about going back. I sure wish I had invested that 2-4 years right after high school before I was married and had responsibilities.
