The Wt non-real study article for this coming week April 26 - May 2 in Paragraph 3 mentions that during the past 10 yhears more than 2.7 million people have been baptized.

I was wondering what the total dub land census was at that time i.e. 10 years ago, and how many they are now, and of course the loses, any have that info I would very much appreicate it ifn you could post it here. Thanks so much in advance.

Even if it were true, and I highly doubt it is, they do not tell you that the fall away rate for new people is in the 97% . The dubbers have lied about numbers since the days of 10s of thousands of dubbers died at the hands of the Nazi's, Uhhh 5 thousand, wait 2 thousand, uhhhhh, 6 hundred. they lie because the rank and file never questions the smallest thing, they gulp down the Kool Aid and ask for more.

The number baptised may be true but look at the publisher figures in the 2000 and 2010 Yearbooks:

    2009 Average Publishers = 7,046,419

    1999 Average publishers = 5,653,987

    10 Year increase = 1,392,432

    2009 Peak publishers = 7,313,173

    1999 Peak publishers = 5,912,492

    10 Year increase = 1,400,681

As they say "There are lies, there are damned lies, and there are statistics!"

Hardly a 2.7 million increase. Even if you consider about 1% dying off there is an awfully large shortfall!

I believe the 2.7 million baptized number. It is also telling that they only gained around 1.4 million. That is a loss of 1.3 million in 10 years. 130,000 per year. There is some other math involved that would make the number more accurate. jwfacts.com did a good study on it a few years ago. I would suspect the numbers are getting worse for the Dubs at this point.

They borrowed a hockey stick from Michael Mann.

If I'm reading this right, they've had 2,700,000 baptized in the last 10 years, but only an increase of approximately 1,400,000 publishers. That means that they've lost about 50% of those that've been dunked in the last 10 years, which isn't really a very good track record.

I should've added my note above, but this is what I got from the wtlib 2009 cd. This is the number baptized for the last ten years. So not what they are saying but they may be referring to 2008-1999? Who knows, they make up stuff on the fly anyways. Edit: I can't add obviously, that is pretty close to 2.7 mil, not over though...

Oh yeah, I'm new! Been lurking here for over 6 months and you've all helped me to seriously start thinking and planning my fade out of the cult. Thank you!

Thanks bohm, I will when I can collect my thoughts and be somewhat concise.

Also to add, we had our CA today "Safeguard your Spirituality", made only the afternoon session since I had "more important" things to do i.e. the gym, anyway, the CO brought out and stressed 3 times that the yearly average for ones being disfellowshipped is 40k annually. So the last ten years have seen roughly 400k DF'd. Cause we all know that shunning is the best form of discipline... right?

A point I made to my super Dub Bro. in Law was, O.K allow for some leaving or DF'd for some sin, but that still leaves an awful lot who leave for the reason that the "truth" is not what it says it is.

As I said, these are people who have studied, believed, got baptised and LIVED the life of a Witness, and yet they leave for what to them must be a terrifically good reason (or two).

I asked him, "Does that not make you think ?" It didn't.

But the figures, even if slightly suspect, tell the story that I outlined. Thousands have " tasted " and seen that it is Not good.
