I hope not! Don't let them get you down. Hang in there and work hard at getting free from the mental cruelty of the Kingdom Hall. Shunning by family has to be the lowest and meanest tactic, designed to inflict maximum mental anguish on all who want to be free of the fraudulent WatchTower religion. Any suggestions on how to fix/improve the fade that is not working, anyone? What is working for you? How long have you been stuck going to meetings and biting your lip? Or, do you even have an exit strategy at all?

There is no easy strategy that I've found. Bite your lip and bear it and hold on to the precious few true family and friends you find in there.

If you are fading (which has many definitions); have a plan.

We stopped pretty abruptly shortly after my hubbie stepped down as an elder.

It is harder if you are married and the other one is not on the same page. Read comments by others on JWD in the same situation for ideas.

Be prepared for some pressure to "come back" for awhile; have other things planned to do instead. Don't just sit at home.

Just give up on them. Remember, you need to remove toxic people from your life once and for all. It's hard to imagine but once you really are out, you will see that they will be the last people in the world you would want as a friend.

Bouncing between two different congregations helps--just don't ever officially change. That will confuse the hounders, who will not know when to expect you. In their confusion, you start missing them altogether. Gradually ramp up on the ones you miss, until pretty soon you miss all the meetings and no one knows whose job it is to hound you.

Thinking back to when I was an elder, we had a sister fade away and were we ever glad. She had many needs- car repairs- always asking the brothers to help fix her car. I think one of the brothers even gave her a complete valve job for free. He kids needed nice clothes for service and meetings, which she couldn't afford (she was a stay at home mom/unbelieving spouse), so she asked for help on that. Her needs were was never ending. She got mad about something and quit coming to the meetings-AND nobody cared, either. I guess they were glad to be rid of a needy JW, which is a situation that never gets any time on assemblies or in the magazines. What I am suggesting is to become the kind of JW the KH won't miss at the meetings. Imagine, if the elders come to your house to encourage you to come to the meetings and you give them a run down of all the help you need and your problems- shoot, hand them a hammer and put those elders to work immediately. I don't think they will bother you anymore.

Moshe ; great idea just dump all your needs on the elders ie. my roof is leaking, car is broken, need money to pay my rent, i need $$$$$$ for heat, new hot water heater, etc. I so glad you elders showed up, saturday would be a great day for you jw's to fix my roof and plumbing. by the way I have no $$$$ for supplies, So are you jw's showing up at 7 or 8 a.m. I'm so glad Jehovah has answered my prayers and jehovahs choosen people are going to fix my ROOF... I like this idea when jw's show up to harrass you.

Moshe ; you did a great thing a few months ago calling many posters here jw DOORMATS... In a roundabout way, I think you pissed off many that were being WALKED ALL OVER , and lately I see many more here STANDING UP FOR THEMSELVES. And it is a great thing to make many x jws UNDERSTAND that they are being used as DOORMATS. TRUTH AND FACT ARE HARD TO DENY when in the back of your mind you know your letting your jw friends and family PISS ALL OVER YOU.
