I don't think anyone is really saying the Borg endorses such disowning, nevertheless the Borg and their idiotic rules only serve to enable the backwards thinking this father displays.

Maybe the point here is that the WTS destroys good thinking ability. I agree that the WTS would not recommend disowning a 5 year old boy. But they do recommend perfect obedience without critical thinking and such a stance breeds distorted thinking from those obedient to the WTS.
What an evil bunch of men.
