I encountered in my time as a JW, an alarming number of JW brothers who just couldn't remember people names.

Alot of the these brothers were the Watchtower conductors for their congs too!

    Is this a JW affliction?

I confess - I was / still am terrible at remembering people's names. As soon as you get up on the platform to do a Q&A your brain goes to mush and you forget who you are let alone all the other Bros and Sis. It is compounded by the fact you have to call them by Br or Sis last name, whereas in any other time you call them by first names.

The best example I remeber of that syndrome was the TMS overseer calling on a sister to answer thus:

"Yes sister, er sister, um ,oh yes mother" !!!!!!!!

They are all nameless zombies without personalities anyway. No wonder people forget their names.

Sweet, something else I can blame on being raised as a JW.

I use, "honey" and "sweetie" alot. It's almost like I remember their names.

I always thought that meant I had a special place in their heart ... I'm shattered ...

That is because they don't see everybody as people they need to relate to. So, it is okay to them if they forget your name. They think that by saying "Sister" that will suffice.

I once told somebody that if anybody saw me in public and called me 'sister' I would ignore them.

    Idiot religion!

i have to say the syndrome is applied
once one has left the fold, because i
see faces i know are from the KH and
i am damned if i can remember names!!!

funny but true, one "bro" is attending
classes at the same tech college where
i was taking a class... we passed, he said
"hi, chickpea" and for the life of me there
was no way i could conjure his name.....
    spent HOURS trying to remember

and his name is the same as my husband's!!!!!

I'm horrible with names. Why should I remember your name? "Hey you!" and "Over here pipsqueak!" work as well or better than given names do.
