I wonder if the watchtower has ever said anything catagorical about how members of other religions doom themselves when they are confronted with scripture they cant explain, yet choose to stick with their own religion.

Blondie you never cease amazing me with your logical reasoning along these lines. I have great respect for the “Associated Bible Students” that are scattered throughout the world; they have not evolved themselves into a cult with its thin veneer like the Watchtower Society has. Keep up the good work.

Here's a couple of quotes that might fit the bill:
"Fear has a great hold on the people. People are afraid of what their neighbors, their friends, relatives and clergy might think if they were even so much as to read the Bible on their own. For centuries the clergy have dominated their lives, told them what they can read, what they should believe and do. To ask a sound religious question is a demonstration of lack of faith in God and the church, according to the clergy. As a result, the Irish people do very little independent thinking. They are victims of the clergy and fear; but freedom is in sight."---August 1, 1958 Watchtower p. 460 Dawns a New Era for the Irish
"In many places in the world simplicity of living has been replaced by a life of complexity, with waking hours crammed with both important and trivial matters. Moreover, people today are developing an aversion to thinking. They fear being alone with their own thoughts. If other people are not around, they fill the void with television, movies, light reading matter, or if they go to the beach or park the portable radio goes too so they will not have to be with their own thoughts. Their thinking must be channeled for them, ready-made by propagandists. This suits Satan's purpose. He deluges the mass mind with anything and everything but God's truth. To keep minds from doing godly thinking Satan keeps them busy with thoughts that are either trivial or ungodly. It is tailor-made thinking, and the tailor of it is the Devil. Minds work, but in the way that a horse is led. Independent thinking is difficult, unpopular and even suspect. Thought conformity is the order of our day. To seek solitude for meditation is frowned upon as antisocial and neurotic.-Rev. 16:13, 14."----August 1, 1957 Watchtower p. 469 par. 7 Will You Get to Live on Earth Forever?

Eventually, by 1939, the organization got it right and published a series of WT articles on the importance of strict neutrality.
In the meantime, however, wasn't the German Branch involved with kissing Hitler's ass and denouncing Jews?

When I first started learning about how the Borg uses cult mind control I had a hard time wrapping my mind around quotes such as those provided by Mary above. The hypocrisy is so incredibly blatant and it is so obvious that they do the very same things they accuse others of so aren't they taking a huge risk by making such statements? I think I've got it now.
It is precisely because it is so blatant and in the open that they have no fear of the rank and file figuring it out. They hide their mind control in plain sight, knowing it is the last place people will look for it.

Mary, those quotes from the fifties are very interesting; I believe JWs overall, and within obvious limits, had a lot more latitude to speek freely then than now. A lot has changed since the internet ear open the floodgates on disclosure
