A while ago, on here i think, i came across a quote from the Oct 8 1966 Awake!

‘We are nearing the end of the first six thousand years of man’s existence.
If the date of the creation of man (4026 B.C) is also the date of the beginning
of the seventh creative day or sabbath, it is therefore calculated that the end of the first 6,000 years of this 7,000-year-long day will take place in the year 1975. Since the last thousand years of this seventh day are to be occupied entirely by the millennial reign of Christ, it follows that the year 1975 will witness the Battle of Armageddon and the ushering in of the long awaited new world under the King Jesus Christ.

I have searched through PDF scans of 1966 and in fact all 1960s issues looking for this. I cannot find it. The PDFs are created from United kingdom editions, i do not know if from individual magazines or a bound volume.

The oct 8 issue PDF talks about 1975 but not in these sentences.

Can you help? were there alterations in different countries? is a case of changing the bound volume edition?

Life Everlasting - In Freedom of the Sons of God. (1966) pg 29.

"Accordingly to this trustworthy Bible chronology, six thousand years from mans creation will end in 1975, and the seventh period of 1,000 years of human history will begin in the year 1975 CE."

    Awake 10-8-68 pg 14

"How fitting it would be for God...to end man's misery after 6,000 years of human rule and follow it with His glorious Kingdom rule for a thousand years! This would leave only seven more years from the autumn of 1968 to complete 6,000 full years of human history. That seven-year period will evidently finish in the autumn of the year 1975."

You can't find it because they didn't write it. You have quoted a book that quotes that Awake!

See "Inside Story of Jehovah's Witnesses"

    Cheers

Thanks Chris... will go looking for the whole book.

i find it a little disturbing if the writer is claiming to quote Awake! but actually putting words in its mouth so to speak... But perhaps he is paraphrasing the ideas in his own words and reasoning... and that got picked up as a 'quote'

mythbuster, yes thankyou, yhese were the ones i searched.

He quotes the Awake! in that paragraph, but what you thought was a quote was his commentary on it.
