Maybe he didn't answer her prayer, really. She had to pay for them after all.

Jehovah answered my prayer. I was distressed about what I was learning about my religion (JW) a few months ago and I prayed fervently for his guidance, to forgive me for doubting but to know my heart that I wanted to do the right thing no matter how difficult ... etc. ... at six o'clock in the morning after a sleepless night, out of the blue, I got a profound and simple phone call that eerily dealt EXACTLY with what I had been praying about.

After days of agonizing, I told my wife about it, basically she doesn't think Jehovah answers my prayers unless the are pro-witness.

Great. Jehovah can spring for a new skirt and shoes for sis's field service , but for some reason he still hates amputees.

Ok I have one for ya: There is a couple in my old hall who wanted to buy a new house, move out of the one that was payed for and the one they raised their kids in. They said IF the deal for the new house all got done by a certain date (and they had an actual day picked out) that that meant that Jehovah wanted them to move from their old house, THAT WAS PAID FOR, and move into a new house with another payement. Guess what, their day came and went without a deal. So did they take that as a sign NOT to buy the new house, Jehovah's answer?? No, they bought it anyways and said Jehovah must have a different plan for them!

I hate when people say this. I had another "sister" friend in Maine and she thought Jehovah absolutely did EVERYTHING for her from giving her money when she needed it to bringing a deer to her window at exactly the time she wanted to see one!

I believe that you can manifest stuff in your life ON YOUR OWN, it doesn't have anything to do with "Jehovah answering" these tiny prayers. Just rediculous! Because it says to the rest of us, "Jehovah is obviously blessing me, why isn't he blessing you, why isn't he answering your prayers?" I hate that!

Well...they are conditioned to believe that Jehovah will provide. How many stories have we heard about how someone made the sacrifice to pioneer but were next to destitute and then some miracle happened so they could continue. I remember one story...The rent was due...no money, when as if by a miracle an envelope of money arrived with the exact amount to pay the rent. Some other do-gooder dub sent them some cash to help...but the implication was that Jehovah directed this turn of events so the pioneer could continue on in his service.

Of course, necessities and frivilous purchases are different and the more reasonable dub will see the difference. But as I've noticed over the last decade or so, the JWs seem to be attracting more and more off-center people. As the ranks of the loonies increase, then so will their own understandings and interpretations of all things JW.

I had a CO once who counseled the congregation and told them pretty much the same thing. Quit crediting Jehovah and the angels for everything that happens. They don't work that way. He explained it all in such a rational way that was so UN-Dub-like that all I could think at the time was "this is the coolest CO I've ever had." Looking back, I wonder whether he was of the conscious class. (I think he's passed away now; he was VERY ill a year or two ago.)

Better yet - put someone like this on the spot...

"...like last week I wanted a new skirt and shoes for field service but only had $20 dollars...."

'Sister - if you had $20.00 - why didn't you donate that to the 'Worldwide Work' by putting it into the contribution box at the KH? That way - Jeehover could use that through his 'earthly organization' to help out those more needy ones in his organization.'

    Hmmm...

So if they go shopping at the Salvation Army Store does that mean Jehovah will bless them even more abundantly?

You can get a heck of a lot of clothes for $20 there!

A sister in a neighbouring congregation felt that Jehovah had answered her prayers when they were the top bidders on a new second home / holiday home. Another used it as a test that if a council offered them a new house , then they would move to a different congregation as this was proof of "Jehovah's will."

I can think of numerous other examples , from JWs and from people from other religions. I've long tried to reason with these people using the arguments above but it just doesn't work.
