    Serenitynow....

What is your degree? (ADN, BSN, MSN,FNP etc)

Have you considered becoming a 'traveler'?

What about teaching a course or two (online or in-class)

I have an adn. I would love to get a poly sci degree and maybe do legal nursing. I have wanted to do travel, but I'm going to stay where I am, since I'm learning things there. That wage list seems pretty low.

I hope you do return to school!

Legal nursing in my state is about $200 per hour

As far as travelers go...... My bestest Mormon friend drives 12 miles each work day to our local hospital!

Here is an glimpse at her typical 13 week assignment:

She is paid $10-15 more per hour

Given a cash travel expense ($600)

Choice of local apartment or housing cash allowance (she takes the cash)

Bonus upon completion (last job paid $3500)

Her agency arranges her CEs for free (granted most hospital reimburse anyway).

After you feel you have learned all you can from your current position.....maybe consider talking to a few agencies!

Wow, that is a lot of money. Unbelieveable. If that is the case, then Dr. might be getting around $300,000 to $450,000 unless Canadian pay scale system is different from US. for a mere nurse.

Ynot, I've worked agencies before. That was all I did full time for years. It has it's pros and cons. I was younger when I did agency and did not buy health insurance, so I don't know how the wages work with insurance taken out.

The legal nursing is kind of a matter of who you know, you kind of have to make a name for yourself among the malpractice lawyers before you can name your price. I have long term care background and with the baby boomers aging, and more going into nursing homes soon, I expect malpractice suits to increase. I would like to get a public law and government degree to give myself an edge. The work that I do now, also gives me skills that I could use for that career, so I'm trying to learn as much as possible. I refuse to go back for a higher nursing degree. My first choice was never nursing. I do enjoy it, but I would love to practice in a different capacity.

Palmtree- Does it specify what nurses are making that? I would think only CRNAs which is a masters degree- and not just an online type deal. The nurse anesthetist program is quite rigorous, so they do make more. Living in Michigan I have worked with many Canadian nurses (Windsor, mostly) and the reason they came across the bridge everyday was for US wages (USD was worth more then). That kind of wage cannot be the norm in Canada.

Hey, I did not see Sanitation Engineer in the list. I mean, they got to pay better than that plain old Electrical Engineering degree I got.

Thank goodness Administration of Justice isn't on the list. That's my MS, and I'm working part time at Taco Bell and begging for more hours while looking for my career job.

    White Dove,

Uncle Sam through his Dept. of Homeland Security is looking for new recruits. Did you give a try?
