Yes an anionted Sister and even some pioneers secretly must be home at 4 pm to watch this show....today my wife and I while cooking dinner...."Shhh my show is on!" So, I watched some of it to see what's the deal. A bunch of pretty models were being bitchy to an old lady who didn't like what they are doing to "the company." Lots of "damn you's" "I'll get the company back" revenge etc....and generally rude nasty backstabbing people....I guess it's much like a Kingdom hall...but seriously, ladies what's the HYPNOTIC attraction women have to this show?
My Cong= Even Anointed Sisters and Pioneers watching "The Bold and Beautiful" why do women like melodramatic crap??

It's been my experience the JW women relate to this even more then "Worldy women" because it most accurately reflects the backstabbing, gossiping, and underhanded dealings of the Kingdom Halls more than any other shows on TV.
Just my experience. Also, it is an outlet for them to daydream about a life they only wish they could live, instead of knocking on doors of empty houses and scrubbing toilets for a living.

Broken Promises
As a woman, I have to say that even as a JW I wasn’t interested in the soapies. But my secret tv show was Jerry Springer

It used to be rather tamer back in the 90s.

Let's face it. The JW life is a drag. Soaps offer a bit of excitement, a bit of romance (which many JW marriages are in serious lack of) and a lot of drama.
And since JWs are so good at waiting for the "end" they are very familiar with the suspence of waiting for a long time for a particular situation to come out of the closet.

What...... !!!!
OMGoodness are you telling me your momma didn't yank you out of school (like the other JWkids and worldy kids) to watch 'Luke and Laura's Wedding!!!
B&B sucks......
Stories have always been a popular escape to humans.......
Consider it emotional porn for women.....

LOL I've noticed over the years that no matter how often the Society warns sisters against watching "daytime dramas" because of their sexual content and other things, they simply can't seem to stop doing it.
These shows are made to appeal to feminine nature, I think, they exploit a lot of typical female fantasies in the Western world. I was hooked on one for years, "The Young and the Restless" but I lost track if it along the way and couldn't begin to tell you what's going on with it now.
What I, personally was watching for was some clues as to how people outside of the Borg acted, I think. I felt so outside of that world where people could actually do anything they wanted, or at least, in my perception they could, and I was so repressed and limited, it was like pressing my nose up against the candy store window for a peek of the goodies when I didn't have a dime to spend.
I also know that a lot of sisters are secrety hooked on romance novels. It's pretty normal...these books do for women what porn does for men, I think, it's all about fantasies we'll probably never get fulfilled in RL. Men (straight men, anyway) would love for every good looking woman to want to have sex with them with no consequences (every conventional porn movie I've ever seen for straight men is all about a good looking woman who takes one look at Mr. Ordinary Guy and immediately sheds her clothes and inhibition and has wild sex with him, then walks off with a smile on her face, no "will you call me tomorrow" stuff), and most women would love to be romanced by a man who doesn't just want them for sex (every Harlequin romance is all about the woman only giving into sex after the man has done a million things to prove he just doesn't want her for her body, after "true love" is proven and declared, and the sex is always about the guy making sure she's totally pleasured first).
There's a good reason our sexual nature tends to be somewhat oppositional...sexual biology has a different agenda for men than for women, is all.
As a teacher I once had in OBGYN said.."Get over it, biology is sexist. It doesn't care about equal rights, medical technology or political agenda, it's just trying to keep the human race alive the best way it knows how."
LOL...so true. It accounts for some of the conflicting "Venus and Mars" stuff between men and women, that battle of the sexes stuff.

I have trouble relating because I could never stand the soaps. Even when I was a stay at home mom, I didn't watch them. Of course, maybe that's why I couldn't stand most of the sisterhood when I was a JW either...just couldn't get into the fun of being a gossiping hypocrite...and JW women are right on par in this area with the "worldly folk" they so despise.
Of course, they're just as bad as wordly ones in most areas, they just put heavy pancake make-up over it all and pretend they are perfect.

Think About It
As a woman, I have to say that even as a JW I wasn’t interested in the soapies. But my secret tv show was Jerry Springer
During one 6 month stretch, I either worked 12 hrs a day, then worked rebuilding my house or spent my days off working on my house. Started watching Springer.(back when they could fight-LOL) Getting back to the condo to watch Springer was the highlight of my social life at the time. The show was so shockingly different.
