The article mentioned "no gold rimmed glasses." Is that true? When did this come out? I remember gold rimmed glasses as being pretty standard.

Good article. Very interesting. "No gold rimmed glasses" would not surprse me in the least. That would be "bringing attention to yourself".

What I know is that the Society systematically stripped the fun stuff out till it all tasted like cardboard.

The Fun stuff- Big circus tents and cooking for thousands, or cooking the meals at CAs and DAs, then that went to packaged sandwiches and then to Bring Your Own stuff.

These guys are the champs at killing joy.

True. They seem to hate fun. No wonder so many youths are leaving the org.

    Bang-

You are right. I let my kids play on the High School Baseball team and Swim Teams...............very unpopular at the KH but boy did they both have fun in Sports.

I started doing this in the early 90's while still an elder. It was great times. Wasn't going to let that time of my kids lives go by without participation in sports. It was very unpopular at the KH, but all the negative talk was kept behind our backs. We really didn't care, because we refused to accept cultish behavior on such things as demonizing extracurricular activities. I considered it a conscience matter and wasn't going to let the hardcore kooks control my family decisions.
