Did you ever REALLY believe anything special happened at Cedar Point Ohio in 1922?

There was always a blank space in my thoughts when we'd study all that. These outdated talks and publications were supposed to be special; my only thought was, what did they say in that convention, talk, or publication? No one knows, and no one can verify it. Hmm. Would be awfully nice to see what was in those old books. Must've been something special. Weird that they're not in print anymore. Then I moved on, never thinking too hard about it. It was that simple.

    >> that was pretty much what I did too. I think I pretty much just assumed this was "old light" and never gave it much consideration. Of course, they have never come down off this ridiculous explanation of "prophecy".

I was trying to come up with a way to describe my thoughts about this teaching earlier today and couldn't come up with anything. Your description fits pretty well.

I think it was so ridiculous that my mind went into zombie mode whenever we covered this. Afterwards when I awoke I never remembered anything about it. It wasn't until I was pretty much out that I realized that this was actually a teaching and my first cognizant thought was WTF?? Really?? How did I not see through this before??

No I didn't. It's weird though that Cedar Point still has the pictures up in a museum at the park. I've seen them myself many times. In fact every time my congregation or family went there we made a stop in the museum just to see the pictures of the convention.

I thought it was true because they said it was true.

Then I woke up.... and said WTF?

Sapphy, I was 14 when we studied this book for the first time. And it blew my mind on the 1920's conventions.

No, I did not. When I was new in the religion and this tidbit was presented to me by the persons I was studying with, it strained my credibility and I was pretty much a 'believer' back then. I kept my mouth shut but I thought to myself how ridiculous and presumptuous that they apply prophecy to themselves.

Sorry, but I wasn't buying it.

I supposed I believed it and never gave much thought to it. This hasn't been fresh on my mind in a few years, so I don't remember my exact feelings when we studied this in the revelation book.

When I was "in" I used that Cedar Point stuff to comfort myself. If the bowls of angelic anger then were tracts, resolutions, and conventions that few besides Witnesses noticed, maybe the Great Trib and Armageddon would be likewise on the scale of fear-inspiring.

I always thought it was an unlikely explanation. I have had elders also admit they do not really accept the Watchtower connection here.
