It means Wisdom. And it is interesting that Wisdom usually takes on a feminine personification across languages and cultures.

It's spelled Sofia. We wanted to keep a little Spanish in the name.
Good man !!
You may have trouble finding things with that spelling, but I find it a far more beautiful way to spell it, but then again, I am bias.
Athena, Isis, Minerva, Sophia, Sarasvati ...
We women just know stuff!

Just thought I'd add my two cents here.
This board, and its different views, have all helped to strengthen both my faith and my security in that faith. I tend to be a more solitary person in my thoughts and feelings and faith, but being too alone can become just as much of 'a box or a vacuum existence', I think, as can being too absorbed in a collective or group dynamic.
We are both individual and social creatures. Finding a balance between the two is not always so easy, but a worthy goal to work toward.

And, what a 2 cents!
Thanks, Tammy.

Thanks, Sylvia.
Please don't blush.
I meant that in a complimentary way.

You cannot embrace your true spirituality as a JW - everything is either/or.
This is so true. The key word in this sentence is ‘your’. As a JW, you must embrace the WTS’s version of spirituality. A ‘one size fits all’ solution will never work. Ever. Spirituality is extremely personal and for many, very private.
It is a very intense spiritual moment when it happens, the flood gates do really open up and it seems that things are just "different".
There is a peacfulness and a warmth, a sense of "coming home" and of "belonging".
I have experienced this same kind of feeling. The majority of the time it is when I am not even thinking or concentrating on anything relating to God or Christ, but instead, when dealing with the natural world, thinking about a lovely family or friend experience, listening to music, reading, or watching movies, or accomplishing something important to me. I have had some very spiritual experiences with animals, birds, and even a bumblebee. I have to say that the only time I've ever really had the above feeling as described by PSac in relation to some form of 'deity' is when I addressed Jesus in a conversation in my head (I don't call what I do 'praying'). I have NEVER had that kind of feeling addressing God or Jehovah.
I would be interested to read about Terry's definition of 'Spirituality'. Terry, would you be willing to share it with us?
For me, it is about who I am, why I am here, how I conduct myself, and what I am doing. I am trying to bring love and forgiveness to the forefront of my persona, as it was always shoved back due to my upbringing. It is about being an active contributor to society, helping others, and trying to be an example for my JW parents (now, just my Dad). This is always a work in progress. I am putting to the test the teachings of persons that I resonate with, including Jesus Christ, Monty Roberts, and Stephen Covey (to name a few). For me, they are working. I don't worry about whether or not God exists. I don't have time and I don't want to spend my energies swirling around in that no-win, going nowhere vortex. I have always been of the mind that "If it's got to be, then it's up to me." I blame nothing on God and I expect nothing from God. This works for me.
