I am curious as to what current jw's are saying about the new 'generation' definition especially now that the assemblies are in full swing. Or do they just brush it off as usual?

How would they have a normal (not a jw) discussion in public if the topic got onto say... our father's generation did things different.... that generation blah, blah..... you know common terms us worldlies & media use. Does their brain just stop firing and nearly explode due to the cognitive dissonance?

Few JWs knew back in 95 that the Society had just resurrected Rutherford's position of 1927. Now they have gone further back and adopted the Bible Students position of 1919.

Who knows maybe they'll become Bible Students again and start studying the 7 Volumes.

Mine has been defensive and insisting that the whole generation teaching is no big deal.

My wife says it's perfectly logical and in line with other "truths" dispensed by the FDS.

An otherwise intelligent elder (about whom I made a topic) told me this was always how he imagined a 'generation' That when his extended family gathered around, there were young people to old people, and he thought about all of them as one generation. I was at loss of words, and only asked him to open a dictionary when he has a chance.

My wife, inevitably, falls back on the argument against my beliefs or 'lack of' when I cannot come back with a replacement packaged theology that I follow blindly the way she follows hers. It's called, freedom of mind and freedom to have a personal relationship with God without the religious baggage. This makes no sense to her.

My mother insists that its just a minor detail that doesn't affect their overall teachings.

My brother claims that he knew all along that the 95 teaching was not right, but he didn't say anything because he knew they would correct it eventually.......I tell you, I don't know whose head I want to smash in the wall more, theirs or mine.
