If you don't want to be announced as DF or DA, don't give them the opportunity to ask those quesions by making excuses why you are not available, or lie.
Another option is the one I have used and that is to say "I'm not ready to make that sort of statement." The specfic question was "Do you consider yourself a JW?" Of course I knew what they were fishing for. The meeting was concerning sexual contact between me and my wife before we were married. Although my attitude was not exactly repentent I did show them the deference of showing up for the judicial meeting and answered as respectfully as I could without outright lying. At one point they actually asked me if getting df'd would hurt my chances of overcoming my doubts. Hmm.....what do you think I said.
What gets me about these elders is that they equate the respect born of the fear that comes with what they can do to my family life, with the respect shown to someone you actually admire or acklowdge as being worthy of respect. Showing that measure of respect, I think, let me walk the tightrope between being a total pussy and being df'd. (still feel like a pussy and wish I could tell them to f off)

Ooh that sounds like something they could take and run with! Makes it seem like at some point in the near future you will answer those questions the "wrong" way. At this point if I was asked one of those questions, I would answer with a question demanding why they would be asking me such a thing. But then I've already gotten myself a rep for being headstrong and argumentative.

My shepherding call starts at 2:00 this coming Saturday. The elder asked me if it was ok and I said yes. I know the their focus will be on me due to my being a fader and delinquent publisher. I am not sure what questions they have in mind, but I will listen and try to keep from saying anything negative. I just plan on fading away after the elders leave. Does any body here have any suggestions of what to say and not to say? I have to keep my cool.
