Governing Body, Watchtower vs Ray Franz -- Irony

Watchtower teaches Jehovah’s Witnesses that its governing body is a contemporary version of the body depicted at Acts Chapter 15.

Acts Chapter 15 depicts a meeting of Christians where the subject and deliberations are disclosed. Furthermore, the information disclosure includes specific names of who offered noteworthy statements in the discussion, and this disclosure was made in writing. This is the meeting Watchtower leads Witnesses to believe its governing body is modeled after.

Where has Watchtower even one time disclosed the subject and deliberations of a specific meeting of its governing body as was done by the writer of Acts Chapter 15? Where has Watchtower even one time made such a disclosure including the names of who said what that was noteworthy to whatever decision was made? Not one time has Watchtower done this.

By comparison, Ray Franz has made such disclosures and has made them in writing.

It is ironic that the very event Watchtower asserts as the model of its governing body is a model that it fails to follow yet someone who left that body follows the model by sharing information such as done by the writer of Acts Chapter 15.

This is one notable aspect of Ray Franz’s legacy. He wanted folks to know what was going on. So did the writer of Acts Chapter 15. For good or bad, Ray put it out there for people to decide however they will. It is a good legacy.

The governing body is far more like the Sanhedrin than anything else.

Compare the meeting of Acts 15 with the activities of the Jewish Sanhedrin with the capture, trial and judgement of Jesus Christ.

Clandestine, after darkness, secretive, hidden from public view. It is only after Jesus Christ is turned over to Pilate that it is daytime.

Which is comparable to the activities of Governing Body?

At the Sanhedrin meeting to condemn Jesus, we know the name of the high priest and what he said and what the false witnesses said and the final decision of the meeting.

So the Governing body's actions are worse than the Sanhedrin.

Great observation.

I noticed when I sent a letter to the Branch it had my personal name on it. What I got back said "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses". My elders said that the Branch is busy. And I said that I had received a letter from a corporation.

Things didn't go well--except that I figured out this wasn't the way Jesus wanted things to be run.

Ray Franz LIVED the way Jesus told the disciples the "greatest among them" would behave--as the least, a servant to all. How helped us all!

Definitely, Raymond Franz was not part of the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger class. He worked among that class, doing all he could to run the organization the way Jesus would have. But, the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger always worked against his efforts to bring the religion in compliance with the Bible, and then threw him out when they got the chance.
