Speaking as a "sugar-aholic"... What Tec, Transhuman, Outlaw, Ynot, and the others said... Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, start again... But I know the feeling... "I got away with it this time!! Maybe I can handle it now???"

Speaking of which, I feel a sugar craving coming on... I want some CHOCOLATE !!!

Don't beat yourself up, just keep on maintaining... Can you find a substitute that makes you feel good?? I drink herbal tea [yes, I can hear the "yuks" now...] with honey and goats' milk, when I get sugar cravings... Actually tastes BETTER than candy, actually, cause I don't have that bad taste in my mouth afterwards... Zid

    Eiben, Mind-

We are interesting creatures as to what triggers an addiction. One of the important findings that came out of the Viet Nam War was treating wounded veterans with morphine and opiates for pain, 20% became addicted and 10% became hardcore addicts which showed the metabolic component.

I got addicted when I was 15 by the Presiding Overseer and Assistant Overseer (early 60s) I was a full blown alcoholic in High School.

Don't ride that train anymore thankfully.

    5th Gen,

I have had problems with addiction, falling off the wagon happens, dont be too hard on yourself. A year sober is a great acomplishment, in fact I dont know of anyone that has beaten addiction and not messed up a few times.

Keep your head up and dont give up.

One day at a time, that is all we can do.

365 days ON > one day off.

Get back on and take it one day at a time.

We are all human, we all make mistakes, we all "fall" and that is why we get back up and start again.

    Got anythign better to do?

    ;)

One day at a time my friend, one day at a time and if you need it to be one moment at a time, then so be it.

For what its worth, it takes soem serious strength to do what you've done, even more to admit when you fall, seriosu strength.

Be proud in that strenght, be strong and never forget that you are loved.

Last night I watched an interview with Tony Curtis (the actor) I was surprised to learn he had a problem with drugs and alcohol.

His family did an intervention and he went through the Betty Ford Treatment Center.

He said that he would stay clean/sober and messed up various times in his recovery

with sobriety times lasting longer and longer in between mess ups.

At the time of the interview He has been sober 15 years.

It seems to have been a process for him over a long period of time.

He says he is happier now than he has ever been in his life. (I don't know what year the interview was done)

    Hang in there,

    purps

My problem really stems from the Truthâ„¢.

Just cant shake the guilt and pressure I've had my whole life.

My head hits the pillow at night and I start obsessing.
