Definition: Nerd Pouch
aka pencil/pen holder. It fits in the shirt pocket, and usually contains a variety of pens and pencils.
Mine used to hold a copule of pens, a mechanical pencil, a screwdriver, a tv alignment tool and a 6" ruler.

I had no problem with the dog tag while in the assembly, but it came off when I went outside.

As many others on here, I gave up wearing them a few years ago. Sometimes I would put it on my suit coat, but our convention center was so awful and always hot in the corridors, that I never wore my coat.

For other conventions and trade shows that require badges, they usually also require registration. The badge shows that you are registered, your admission fee is paid and you are entitled to the services and information available at that show. Witness conventions have no registration, no admission fee and no information or services. They are free and open to the public. It really makes no sense to me what is the big deal about the badges. If you don't have one, nothing will happen to you, you won't get thrown out but perhaps someone will ask you "where is your badge?" You say "I don't have one" and they say, "Oh."
I guess they want to make sure that the serve staff at the restaurants in the area know for sure who the cheap-ass clientele are who arent leaving any tips for anybody ever. Thats a great way to advertise advertise advertise aint it.

If you take a look back at the assemblies from decades ago you'll see that there was always a security situation created,
even to the point of having men holding wood canes to threaten people who come to the events to cause a disturbance.
The identity badges still used today have been derived from that.
Identity badges help in identifying who's a JW and who's not.
The society used to say that its a advertisement for the convention itself, which was just another part of the hierarchy's.

I don't need no stinkin badge. Never wore the things. And no one ever asked me why.
I did nave my elder cousin ask me why I wasn't wearing a tie, I told him because wearing
a tie is just a very stupid idea made up by someones idea of fashion, end of conversation.
I never wore my badge after the convention. In fact last couple of years I didn't wear a badge at all. My whole family, never wore the badges after the convention to dinner or anywhere for that matter. In fact, we all went to our hotel rooms, changed into civilian clothes and went incognito to dinner or whatever we did.
I've been to non-JW conventions where you wear a badge, but as someone already stated, wearing a badge showed you registered and paid for the convention and wearing it was a security/admission item. JW badges are like wearing a bullseye on the back waiting to be attacked!
