I have no idea - to be honest with you. Still boggles the mind how JWs can breakdown fornication/porneia into either category of immorality or loose conduct. I swear, if someone feels your boob - it could be classified as 10 different 'infractions' under JW standards!!!
I can't find Porneia in the dictionary....
What does your Catholic person say it means?
Porneia doesn't mean pre-marital sex, it means unclean or unatural sex acts such as beastiality, orgies, anal, incest, pedophilia, etc. If porneia met pre-marital sex than the following verse wouldn't make sense.
Matthew 19:9 I say to YOU that whoever divorces his wife, except on the ground of fornication(porneia), and marries another commits adultery.”
Obviously a person can't have pre-marital sex if they're already married and adultery is listed as seperate from fornication.

Porneia doesn't mean anything, I can't find it in the dictionary..
It does say that fornication is:
1) Voluntary sexual intercourse between two unmarried persons OR two persons not married to each other.
2) Idolatry
Theologan = Theologian..
Porneia seems to be another WTS catchphrase for anything remotely sexual other than straight married (boring) sex.
What you read in WTS literature is their version of a Greek word that simply means "unlawful or illicit sexual acts" according to most Biblical scholars. Anything your society deems as unacceptable so as to make it illegal such as incest, beastiality, etc. seems to qualify.
But, like most words, it changes meaning with time and circumstances. Not all social or belief systems look down on the same sexual acts. Extending that to masturbation, groping, flirting, pre-marital sex, polygamy, homosexuality is totally unreasonable, since those are not universally deemed "illicit" and indeed are not even deemed immoral in the Bible itself, not in an all-encompassing way.
It seems to most reasonably define as the acts that most humans generally find heinous and unacceptable as a society, because they seem to have harmful repercussions, such as incest. That is it's legalistic meaning, anyway.
It also translates metaphorically as "idolatry" so there's an underlying theme of "unfaithfulness" to the word too. Believe it or not, the classical Greeks (it's an ancient Greek word, after all) valued fidelity and honesty too...most human cultures do. Porneia in it's most basic sense may simply refer to faithlessness in marriage or in affection, stripped down to its most basic meaning, outside of legalistic interpretation.
Porneia- Fun sex between two consenting theologians.
What - you all on about? I was a regular Porneia for years and it never involved sex of any kind!
Glad ....You needed to be a Special Porneia for the sex
Now you tell me! Your crab avatar looks remarkably like that little devil.
Now I think about it, and I do, several times a day - Porneia would be a great name for a pole dancer.
