They actually changed the edition of the Live Forever Book to reflect this difference. Only problem was, I didn't know and had the "old light" edition. Imagine my surprise when, on a Bible study, the student's "new light"copy said the exact opposite of mine about the resurrection of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah!

I had a similar experience. Back in 1989, I was out in field service and an elder was going to go to a Bible study and he had a copy of the "old light" edition. I asked him to look up the part on Sodom and Gomorrah to be sure he had the right copy. He had no idea what I was talking about. He was very surprised to discover that the teaching had changed -- up to that point he didn't know there was "new light" on the matter. I gave him my "updated" version.

I called a JW friend yesterday to thank him and his wife for the card and bottle of wine they left in my door (for my college graduation). They had missed us at home several times in the weeks since the commencement.

During the conversation, he mentioned something that led to a JW-related topic. I told him that "Jehovah", being the Creator, knows exactly how to give the Truth® correctly the first time. There is no need for "New Light"... or the "light getting brighter and brighter." I told him that argument is what imperfect men who want to control thinking do to justify their errors. He, being a college grad himself, could not argue that but wouldn't pursue it much past that.

I told him a perfect example is this coming Sunday's Watchtower study....since he and his wife are not consistent attenders and are inactive...I thought it was important to give him a heads up on this important change....**gag**

The humour is very good - the Creator sounds appropriately dumb-assed. On the more serious side, doesn't the clip reveal the embarrassing arrogance of people who confidently pronounce what God will and/or won't do and retain the confidence over the years even when they're flip flopping on their pronouncements? Arrogant dumb-asses indeed.
